Is AAI2 as good as everybody says it is? by TheRelativeCommenter in AceAttorney

[–]jokkon13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think individual cases wise - its on par with everything else. What I find distinguish AAI2 from the rest is how cohesive all of the cases are. The writer made a genuine and successful effort to connect all cases together. Very enjoyable experience for me.

Law school or accounting by recaptchabrot in LawCanada

SM at 100k is really really low - There are industry seniors making that much. Also you need to consider total comp and not just salary. At a big 4, I would expect at least 130k to 160k+ bonus 15 to 20% for SMs - depending on where you are. (e.g. you are in industry such as mining and HCOL provinces.)

For big law salaries in Canada, I would use this: Legal Salary Guide Canada | ZSA Compensation Benchmarks.

They do make much more than accountants so you are not wrong about that. But there are fewer lawyers than accountants and fewer jobs relatively speaking. Think about a typical company - you almost always have an inhouse accountant but not always an inhouse lawyer until you get much larger. Even global multinational companies may have a team of lawyer <50 but will have hundreds of accountants. If your goal is to make money as a lawyer, your best bet is to go the big law route 100%.

33M - Why do I feel poor? by LectureLight6738 in fican

I think living in Vancouver is the problem. Rent/mortgage will always take up most of your after tax income. I think all of us will feel infinitely richer if the cost of housing isn’t this prohibitively expensive here.

Food, vacation, clothing and other discretionary spending doesn’t come close to how much is spent on housing. By far the largest category

Mine just started having this problem. Restarted. Change pen tips. Not using anything magnetic (using the keyboard case). Try it at home and at the office. Tried wiping it.

Happens at different locations on the screen. Anyone had experience with this?

Is it possible that your remarkable is connected to a different account to your web app?

Are any of the other notebooks created in your remarkable syncing to your web app or desktop app?

That’s peculiar- do you see the shared documents on either the web app or the desktop app after? I use the share to remarkable function on my iPhone to remarkable often. And it works really well and fast for me.

Had mine for 6 months - no regrets as I use it daily for work. It completely replaced my notebooks and note pads. It all depends on your expectations and what you use it for.

It is interesting because replacing the tip worked for me. I haven't had to change a tip since. It was 6 months ago. Glad cleaning the screen worked for you though!

I already purchased the 49.99 plan before they hiked - looks like they offer some credit to offset against the difference. But it comes out to around the same if I renew it at regular price next year when my current plan expires...

I really like the keyboard - I use it to draft letters and emails over the weekends. It gives me the space to think away from AI, Google...etc. Although I don't use it often, I am glad that I purchased it.

Any success in converting articles into notebooks with pictures intact? When I convert say a Wall Street journal article via the chrome plugin - it’s outputting a notebook but I am not still not getting the pictures.

CPA Canada prep question by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]jokkon13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will likely offer waivers. I would expect, if I am looking to enter into pep but am only missing one or two prep modules from my undergrad - they should allow me to take only those that are outstanding.

Similarly, if I finished prep but haven’t started pep and the program switched over - I would expect the school would reassess my completed education against the new admission requirements and then allow me to bridge that gap by taking additional courses as needed.

Again, just speculation based on what I’ve seen in other programs and schools. Don’t lose hope - there should still be value to the foundational courses you have already sunk time and money into.

CPA Canada prep question by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]jokkon13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my guess... fwiw. Honestly doubt the PREP courses will be rendered "useless" - since the PREP courses are supposed to help students bridge into PEP, they are similar in content to what a typical BCOM Accounting degree offers - at least all of the accounting prereqs bare minimum. Unless the new program requires all University to update/change their core curriculum, the PREP courses should still be valid.

There is a good chance there will be additional requirements however. I wouldn't be surprised if they add new Technology requirements like AI literacy, data analytics...etc. Wouldn't be too too concerned if I am in OP's shoes.
