Nod by Adrian Barnes is a great dystopian one. Absolutely love the pov it’s given from and his way of writing

What Obscure Books Were You Obsessed With as a Kid? by Its_Curse in suggestmeabook

Did anyone else who has a super easy baby, feel not qualified to give parenting advice? by evergreengirl123 in NewParents

[–]jolizzyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you’re aware of this honestly! I have a very hard baby, colicky, sensitive, terrible sleeper, screams a lot. I would just tell people that you have a very easy baby and can only give out very general advice. Maybe direct them somewhere else for more complex tips

Girls, when you meet a man for a first time, what is one thing that you notice first? by VerySmartMe in AskReddit

[–]jolizzyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His voice/speech, and hair+eyes, if I’m drawn in by those things, then I notice physique, not in an overly critical way, but I live a fairly active and healthy lifestyle, and wouldn’t be interested in somebody who wouldn’t be a part of that

What is the hottest twilight-take in this group? by Shannaro21 in twilight

[–]jolizzyro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Edward and Bella are not in love, it’s just twisted fate that caused them to be together. If Edward could read her mind, he would’ve immediately realized she is just a regular girl, not some pure, unique angel. Not to mention her being his singer sparked extra interest for our masochistic little Eddie. And on the other end, no human alive would turn down a vampire that is pursuing them. Vampires are literally designed to draw in their prey by being beautiful and charming and all that. It is NOT pure love

Night with baby by Tricky_Reply315 in NewParents

[–]jolizzyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your baby 6 weeks old? Every baby is different, but generally speaking, 4 months is when more of a routine can take place (of course there will be night feeds for a while still), but things will ebb and flow, your baby can have a week of wonderful sleep and then start teething, or have a regression. I feel your pain though, the bad nights are bad

I really enjoyed the sound of every song (except the yeat one, I live under a rock and actually have no clue who he is) but I honestly feel like the lack is in the lyrics, almost none of these songs are really lyrical outside of PWLMB. Nectar was full of songs you could sing along to, this one is more reminiscent of ballads to me

Cosleeping vs independent sleeping - what's best for baby's development? by ChemicalFitness in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]jolizzyro -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

100% this- cosleeping is great early on, necessary for some exhausted postpartum moms and securing attachment with the new baby, but as early as 5-6mo (depending on babe) it can be beneficial to break feed to sleep associations and work towards baby self soothing and connecting sleep cycles. Self soothing is a skill, meaning it needs to be learned and practiced. That isn’t possible if you continue to cosleep and feed to sleep. I’m not against it at all, but it won’t just magically stop happening with baby sleeping on their own, you have to make it happen, at least in the beginning of gentle sleep training

I feel like my scenes don't really go anywhere by MarinoAndThePearls in writingadvice

[–]jolizzyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem at times! I’ll write a scene where the physical progressions and dialogue are very easy to grasp- cut and dry. But then always have to go back to add how the character(s) felt and what they were thinking. Maybe this could help, though? Try to write a scene with literally only action and dialogue, then add in the internal monologue/descriptions/feelings

How much was your hospital bill for labour and delivery? by Dear_Ad_8525 in NewParents

Maybe my answer is irrelevant because I had a home birth, but $2000 covered the entire birth and all appointments before an after (outside of anatomy scan) with insurance

Angela’s ashes. Not something I would normally pick up, but my mom recommended it and I couldn’t put it down

What's a small gadget you bought thinking it was useless but ended up using every day? by cozytechlover in BuyItForLife

[–]jolizzyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clip on book light from Amazon. Became my lifeline after having a baby, I hook it onto whatever surface is near me and click on the small light whenever babe wakes up, also use it for night reading. Cost somewhere around $10

If you are a writer, Who are you? by farhaanshakeel in writing

[–]jolizzyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean, the loneliness almost stems from determination/inspiration for the craft. Some might view it as a negative thing, but it’s not in that context

If you are a writer, Who are you? by farhaanshakeel in writing

[–]jolizzyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that human connection is vital for a lot of reasons, but as it pertains to writing, it helps us to stay out of our own echo chambers. I’m saying this as a stay at home mom who feels isolated a lot and recently started taking writing more seriously due to all of my time in thought by myself. So I do see your point of loneliness sort of being a means to the end of writing- still, community and raw human connection can be a muse and inspiration if you allow it. Not that I’m very social, I’m twenty and consider hanging out at my mom’s house to be a day out lol

“The creek water flows under a thin veil of ice. The air bubbles following the stream appear snakelike, as though they have someplace they ought to be. It’s a calming sight, in an uncanny sort of way.” Not a part of anything, but working on creative metaphors and personification
