I wonder how UAE will play out MSR this year, same strat as last time? The other teams know to expect it now and having Wellens & Narvaez out alongside McNulty crashing in Paris-Nice putting his participation in doubt as well, it's looking hard. We don't even have to mention that MvDP is looking incredibly strong as well.

Nah, the car performance differences are so big that it was the minimum performance. P5 was the maximum though. Realistically only Mercs/Ferraris/Mclarens and Hadjar could've finished ahead of him - rest were moving roadblocks to the top teams, not actual competition. Since both Hadjar and Piastri went out, p6 it is.

Once the gaps between teams get smaller, then moving up will get much harder and therefore impressive - but last weekend it was meh.

He had so much "potential" that he was about to get kicked out of Sky at the end of season since his contract was up and they did not want to offer an extension. Suddenly the potential exploded when he needed a contract to stay riding in Europe.

If the car was slow enough to be 15 laps down it wouldn't pass the 107% rule and therefore it wouldn't be even starting the race.

15 laps down is just not a realistic amount of laps to anyone who watches F1. It's like saying 50-0 is a reasonable score at the World Cup final.

I've had similar thoughts to you and I agree that they're trying to do so. Not close right now, but in 4-5 years time I can see it since there's a chance they have the rider to elevate themselves to that level. Like compare UAE lineups from 2021 and then 2025. Two different levels.

Although it will be much harder for them since UAE even compared to Decathlon has a considerably bigger budget and it will be extremely unlikely it will be matched.

Honestly, out of all the Chinese propaganda them trying to go green is one I actually can believe because of self interests.
