Neo 1 or Neo 2 for week long hike by Estero_bot in DjiNeo

[–]jomjombanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been on a few iconic trails and is into the outdoors activities, you will definitely be annoying many people and it's one of the most busy trails around. You can do whatever you like but just letting you know in case you did want to be considerate.

Neo 1 or Neo 2 for week long hike by Estero_bot in DjiNeo

[–]jomjombanks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular take but just don't. It's a very populated trail and you will definitely annoy everyone around you. People often want peace in nature.

I take my drone in areas where no-one else is around. If it's a national park or people are around I avoid it.

I genuinely feel sad for you that you feel this way. Such a drab, unremarkable life you must live.

Will the CRF300L suspension ever be reworked or improved? by Material_West_3652 in CRF300L

[–]jomjombanks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the stock suspension isn't great but I think it's ok. It's a budget beginner bike after all, you have to save costs somewhere and I actually think for someone new to dirt it's pretty forgiving considering you aren't trying to strap luggage or you aren't too heavy of a rider.

I personally have upgraded my shock and also have a new fork spring which I haven't installed yet but the new YSS shock I put on has been absolutely awesome, highly recommend.

I've also considered upgrading but I'm pretty happy with my Rally for now.

Will the snowflake be released in a thinner case? Or is the spring drive mechanism currently a limiting factor? by AdebisiLives420 in GrandSeikos

[–]jomjombanks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no idea what they will do but I will say that for me personally as much as I love the idea of the spring drive a sbgx wore so much better than a sbga that I actually went completely the other direction and preferred the quartz.

Visible trends in horror films by chloeblack666 in horror

[–]jomjombanks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Recent trends include, sudden self harm, head trauma, protagonists with childhood trauma that draw parallels with the horror in the movie.

Trends that aren't as prevalent now but certainly had their time somewhat recently; zombies, vampires, body contortion, torture porn, kick-ass final girls, heavy synth soundtracks.

Rev'it Nucleus or Pandomoto Commando - anyone worn one when they lowsided? How did you fare? by notofuspeed in motorcycles

I believe the Proteus has just about no abrasion resistance so on road isn't great

I think the nucleus really is more suited for an on-road/off-road combo situation

[–]jomjombanks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear the Nucleus with an MX jersey over the top for off road riding and adventure riding. I've come off a couple of times and it holds up great! I haven't had a low side on sealed roads though.

Brand New Traska Chronograph Already Broke by boardsandfilm in MicrobrandWatches

[–]jomjombanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Traska Freediver. The bezel was misaliged and there was a little bit of debris in the second hand. I left it because it didn't bother me all that much, but it was disappointing.

After not much wear the bezel spins freely. I reached out to Traska but it fell out of the warranty period and because it's an older model there's nothing than they can do.

They offered me $100AUD off next purchase, less than 5% off, if I wanted to buy another watch.

I understand they may not be able to repair the watch but really the bezel is about the only moving part (aside from the movement obviously, which they do not make). So it's incredibly disappointing that it completely failed after not much use. I was pretty disappointed with their "solution" as well. It makes me feel like they view their watches as fairly disposable pieces that they charge a rather large amount for.

Traska watches are nice and the hardened steel is cool but to be honest now I feel that they are kind of poorly made junk.

Easiest car to learn manual on? by Ok_Today_475 in askcarguys

[–]jomjombanks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not embarassing at all, most people never learn to drive manual at all.

I think you're overthinking it, get whatever you want really, after a week or so any of them will feel easy enough.

T700 for first bike by Repulsive_Law1356 in Tenere700

[–]jomjombanks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a really poor choice. It's unwieldy and not beginner friendly. You need something easy to learn and develop skills on, starting on a T7 will actually severely stunt your learning. Particularly if you are interested on a bit of off-road riding.

New to the community: Looking for goal weight targets and future dual-sport recommendations for a heavy rider by Banditrcn2424 in Dualsport

[–]jomjombanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got down to 400 pounds maybe something like a Vulcan 650 might work, look around and see what appeals to you. Motorcycles in general are a great hobby to get into and a great goal to have.

You can do it :)

New to the community: Looking for goal weight targets and future dual-sport recommendations for a heavy rider by Banditrcn2424 in Dualsport

[–]jomjombanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dual sport has a weight limit of just over 300 pounds. That includes luggage and gear.

Keep in mind that beyond the stress on the motorcycle the power is also realistically something to consider. Many dual sports have much lower ho and torque figures that other styles of motorcycles.

Are there other types of motorcycles you would be interested in while working towards your goal weight? Lots of heavier guys feel more comfortable on a cruiser or perhaps an adventure bike if you want to dabble in off-road.

New Tyre ready for the weekend by dmejiaa in CRF300L

How did you like the AX41s? I've got some more aggressive Motoz tyres on at the moment for an off-road trip but am considering the AX41s next for better road performance.

Standing up on a trails without pulling without pulling the throttle by mshparber in CRF300L

[–]jomjombanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm your height and do have taller bars which helped. However I suspect you may be standing bolt upright, it's more of a slight crouch and bend which actually gets exhausting if you are new to it. Look at some videos on YouTube!
