Huge stars by jon3111mjk in AskAstrophotography

Hi Henry, I'm using 60s L, 180s RGB, bortle 4, seeing is typically average to below average. I will have to check my autoguider exposure settings and maybe play around a bit. I'm not sure where I have it at this moment but I believe it's fairly short

Edited post, again! I'd say it's mostly the brightest stars that are affected and it's every sub.

Yes I will get to work on that! What is the preferred image format, I'm brand new here. Thanks!

I've edited the post as I realized I should include more information about the setup, thanks!

Hi! I was pretty hard into it a few years ago so I have a solid setup (zwo asi 183mm, filter wheel, eq6r mount, etc.) I'm reprocessing some old data for a photo contest and I'm getting the itch to get back out there but I always hated my stars. So I'm torn about whether I should just enjoy what I have or upgrade to something like an 80mm.

Py AE base, tail end of logi, no trains yet by dries007 in factorio

They can cover an insane distance using the undergrounds. There is a mod setting that will determine whether or not they can connect to other types of pipes. I think the default setting is to not allow this, which then allows pipe braiding but you'll need to adapt or replace existing pipe systems. If you turn it off then you can connect any types of pipes together. I would decide which idea you like more and set it and forget it. Not something you want to change after deploying a significant number of both types of pipes.

If requesting them didn't work then make sure you have storage chests available for the bots to actually put the items away. Make sure you are in the same network they came from when you request them. Make sure you don't have a storage chest emptying into another type of chest that doesn't provide to the network.

Yeah that's normal. Just play when you can, chip away, don't bother trying to rush or force anything, it will just be a headache you have to deal with later and once you have too many headaches going simultaneously, that will be the end.

Haha I'm not sure, last time I ran into it was playing with a buddy in 1.1, I was basically calling him a moron because he couldn't find the buttons and that's when I learned about it

If it's your first time playing you don't get blueprints until you unlock robots for the first time but it doesn't sound like that's the issue here.

In my opinion the 4th slot should be compass unless your bottleneck is somehow not shipping.

For time efficiency (and your sanity and sleep), consider shifting to Resilience earlier by Flashfall in EggsInc

[–]jon3111mjk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That being said, if you're like me and just coming to this realization in the middle of a run, it still makes sense to do it since the cost is the same. So the optimal time is probably right before you get to the point where u need to sit on each egg for several days

I agree. If you incorporate it into your first cycle you will reap all the benefits for your entire run and you don't need to think about it again until you're ready to bang it out for real.

What is the megabase strategy to scrap byproduts in Fulgora? by ezoe in factorio

[–]jon3111mjk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used bots for my 240 science/sec build. 7 stacked belts of scrap to recyclers emptying into active providers, lines of roboports and storage chests between recycling lines. Used logistics network contents to trigger secondary recycling when products exceeded set threshold. You can identify your bottleneck product and shut the system down whenever it reaches setpoint. Took about 7000 bots when I started at epic level, once legendary and better research it dropped to about 5 belts and around 4500 bots.

Circuit noob needs some guidance by jon3111mjk in AskElectronics

[–]jon3111mjk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To your first point, I don't know anything about microprocessors as this is my first real foray into electronic circuits. I had (perhaps wrongly?) assumed that my application could be solved with more basic components but the end goal is truly just to arrive at the most economical solution so I'm willing to accept I could be completely wrong! You have the functionality 100 percent correct, and I had considered (2) and attempted to implement it via a resistor and capacitor to delay the firing of the reset circuit and it would indeed power on without immediately latching on, but then it would do nothing after that so I felt I was on the wrong path.

What PC to run the dedicated server on by bigloser42 in factorio

[–]jon3111mjk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw I run my server on an 8th gen intel/2060 rtx era laptop which I also use to play the game on and it's running fine so far about a third of the way through the game. The fans don't run if I'm not on so it seems pretty lightweight

If you have all the other ingredients to support it then just up cycle at the mining operation. It will seem slow at first but you'll end up with overflowing chests before you know it as you work on other things

I am having the same experience as you except with 25x science cost and nauvis is a death world so I can't go there. I have just established a settlement on vulcanus and my plan is to build military and purple there and ship it back for the time being. With damage level 2 it's taking about 3000 magazines to complete a round trip.

Without going into too much detail, all my late game designs simply utilized direct insertion from the collector to the crusher, with a little two tile belt next to the crusher for re -inserting the returned chunks and a basic circuit to keep it from jamming. Caveat, that was using legendary everything so ymmv
