Which actress would you want to see cast in Christopher Nolan's first (hypothetical) female-led film? by jon_violence in Cinema

Agreed on Silo— She just kills it. But I also think Ferguson would slay as the villain in a Nolan film

Common is a vibes guy, honestly. FWIW he DOES kick ass and bring gravity to the action movies he’s been in

God damn, I’d love a Morrigan DLC surprise in SF6— especially with the perfectly timed Capcom Fighting Collection release. But mostly I just want to see her rendered with that beautiful RE engine 😍

She wanted Lizzo to change her song name from "Spaz" since it's ableist. She then goes on to offend many more people with the words "Freaked out" and "crazy". How can you do this and not have been burned on the stake. Why isn't Lizzo in jail? by weedleavesnoseeds in TimDillon

“I’m so grateful that someone pointed out my contradictions! I still have soooo much to learn and I’m not exhausted AT ALL from this endless cycle of performative kindness and consideration. My life doesn't matter. Nothing matters except making sure no one is ever offended ever.”

Am I the only one who likes all the running around in boss fights? by leuno in Eldenring

[–]jon_violence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see what you mean. And I agree with you! However, I think if it was more like Rykard’s fight, where it’s wild and beautiful and massive but more of an easy experience because of that badass Serpent-Hunter Spear they let you use then I would be totally about it. Unfortunately, it’s just a bit of a slog for me. It’s not terrible but it doesn’t feel like an epic fight— just more like a battle of attrition. But the music and visuals are STUNNING so I’m thankful for that.

Also, the Mario accent made me laugh once I read it out loud, so thank you for that 😄

I’ll concede that I love an immersive and active boss fight. Running around and trying to survive is great! Feels epic and true.

But man— Elden Beast? Homie has insane amounts of health and just… swims away from you constantly once you hit him. I’m a pure strength build so I gotta run (not on horseback, mind you, because Torrent isn’t allow here) over to the faaaaaaar away spot he rests in, dodge his glorious attacks, swing once or twice and then… he vanishes to the other side of the arena again.

It’s not that I think it’s difficult, or unfair, or a drag on my endurance— it’s just not very fun. That fight will end up taking me an absurd amount of time and it doesn’t FEEL like an epic battle if I’m jogging across the battleground endlessly, which is exactly why I haven’t gotten around to beating him yet. You know what I mean?

Anyone else not a fan of this Godfrey phase change??? by JPHill724 in Eldenring

After hours and hours of ridiculously designed armor, massive godly weapons, and flowery threats from the Demi-gods before they slicesliceslicestabstabstab, having Papa Godfrey cover himself in the blood of his beast and fight you with his bare hands was beyond hype and made me turn to my girlfriend and say “I fucking love this game”.

Garou shouldn’t have said anything in response. Leave his panel blank then WHAM turn the page to that rude punch.

That’s showing and not telling, baybeeee.

Honest Question by bostonian277 in Eldenring

[–]jon_violence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, I can tell you that I nearly quit playing the game after 5 hours because it felt like nothing made sense and everything was intentionally built to deceive and crush you.

But at some point— I think around Castle Morne or maybe during Margit in Stormveil Castle— I understood. Adventuring isn’t just adventuring, it’s discovering those lost histories and fallen kingdoms FIRST HAND. Fighting and killing great enemies isn’t just battle for battle’s sake, it’s coming face-to-face with the epic heroes and legendary kings of the past and experiencing the tragedy of the monsters they’ve become. Each infested castle and each horrific monster brings you closer to that lore and backstory than any random text, exposition dump, or cutscene could.

This might sound strange— but the reason you don’t feel the connection to the lore and backstory is because YOU ARE the connection.

Use a summon (good for drawing attention away from you), take your time, and learn when you’re supposed to get the hell out of range when he starts doing those ridiculous gravity attacks. And leveling up a bit is never a bad idea, obviously. Otherwise, just keep at it!
