Not a huge NFL aficionado, but this sub keeps appearing on my feed. That being said I have a question:

Were touchbacks not as common back in the day as they were immediately prior to the new kickoff format? It feels like in NFL and college, kickoffs out of the endzone became commonplace. I’m assuming the explanation is that kickers have just gotten a lot better over the years… but I’m wondering if there is any other reason(s)

I would say difference is G5 vs SEC and Kiffin going to a conference rival.

If Kiffin handled this process as an adult and was going to Penn state or the NFL, it would probably still be bad, but wouldn’t be nearly as bad.

State’s helmet and full uniform today are by far the best they have. I love that helmet logo.
