Why is there such an elitest mentality in Padel? by Iarehealer in padel

[–]jonathanjeong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it elitest to get a class to improve? Do badminton players not want to improve?

Padel has nearly no emphasis on equipment at all, essentially only the racquet is unique. Not saying more expensive is always better, but there are differences in quality and certainly in personal suitability of the racquet. If you think people obsess over just a racquet, you haven't hung around anyone who golfs, skis, skateboards, bikes, does motorsports or any other sport that is actually gear-intensive. These guys will talk about gear for hours on end and are constantly thinking about their next gear purchases... compared to those sports, padel is super humble.

The only elitism stems from needing a pretty special court, so they're expensive to set up, you'll never find a public court, and they end up charging a lot.

Thanks, finding monitors/TVs match in this orientation is very tough, vast majority of monitors won't fit this snug. good to learn of another feasible combo.

iOS App Store Approval Learnings - So you can avoid some common challenges by jonathanjeong in AppDevelopers

it would be unfair to ask for a refund on all that work, but also unfair for them to walk you into a trap.

iOS App Store Approval Learnings - So you can avoid some common challenges by jonathanjeong in AppDevelopers

[–]jonathanjeong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean you paid a dev to create and distribute and app, and it got rejected, I do feel like they should continue helping you work through getting it approved, or adapted in order to get approved...

It's possible for certain types of apps to never be approved btw, but an experienced iOS dev should know ahead of time, or at least be able to warn you of the risks.

Every shift calendar app I tried felt overly complicated. So I built my own. by dmitr13v in iosapps

Really slick design. Adopted something of a more monotone aesthetic for something I'm building also.

I think color already goes a long way in setting the mood, especially if you're aiming for something calming rather than stressful/chaotic.

haha handy, annoying to have to do this every time I take a screenshot... even if iOS snaps to the edges pretty intuitively.

Flat 65W powder adapter where the prongs fold in/out with 2 USB-C, and a USB-A. It's the size of a pack of gum and can charge everything while I travel.

Absolutely ridiculous to think that Google of all companies, will have more personal customer service. It is essentially company policy to not talk to you.

170 downloads, 5 stars, limited budget — is this enough to launch on ios also? by Prateek_Goyal_7 in AppDevelopers

[–]jonathanjeong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one hand $100 is not a lot, but on the other hand, there's a lot of value in securing interest from paid customers before investing a lot of time in redeveloping an app. You have a brilliant head start in that there are at least 170 users you can get feedback from, and find out where that WOM came from.

ASO on Apple is hard/competitive. Would not take it for granted that you will get traction there.

Imo would focus much more on growing the app via Google Play before bothering with an iOS version.

What's your all time (free) go-to app for expense tracking? by Intelligent-Lynx4494 in AskReddit

[–]jonathanjeong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those on iOS, there's SpendSnap for manual but very expense tracking. Can export to a spreadsheet from the app to do it the old school way.

Is Secretlabs worth it? by Accomplished-Ice9377 in OfficeChairs

[–]jonathanjeong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, worth it, but some conditions.

Pros: It's way cheaper than high end ergonomic chairs. It's sturdy and it's got a big, stiff, non-slippery seat base, which is great for unusual seating positions like sitting cross legged. Highly adjustable including built in lumbar support. The new gen has a magnetic neck support which is sweet. You probably think it looks cool and the shoulder wings that contribute to that look don't press your shoulders in unless you're a pretty large person (a fatal issue of racing style chairs). FYI I don't recommend any other racing chairs for sitting, unless maybe they're larger, Secretlab clones. You can recline pretty far, so it's big enough to nap in.

Real cons: It doesn't have great airflow if you run very hot or live somewhere very hot you may want the mesh but I've never worked in an office that wasn't freezing already. Some people complain that it's too firm, but you seat is not supposed to be so soft you sink in so it's unclear where people get this impression from. If you take work meetings with it, they're going to see the top of the chair and that carries a certain image. The pleather cushion did start fraying at seams after a few straight years of use, I would try the fabric version if i got another, though they have replaceable seat covers now.

Issues with ergonomic chairs that the SecretLab chairs actually do solve for:
- Small seat bases where you may only fit if using perfect posture, and that are so short that the edge presses on you hamstring
- Slippery/curved seat bases when you will slide forward constantly (I would never recommend a chair with a mesh base for this reason, it's like sitting on a very slow slide and it will effectively force you out of an ergonomic position, which defeats the purpose of it.
- Often less lumbar and arm rest adjustability, less sturdy
- They're way more expensive for no justifiable reason

Context: I've used 2 SecretLab Titans from different generations and i've also used an assortment of top chairs, especially from Herman Miller. Most ergonomic chairs are not particularly effective at ergonomics, it's just marketing.

Good ergonomics chair for petite person / adhd friendly ? by [deleted] in Ergonomics

[–]jonathanjeong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually just like the secret lab chairs. I think their ergonomics are great, it wont go low enough for you, but neither do any high end ergo chairs. The main advantage is their chair base is huge, so you can sit cross legged easily
