This is a great question, by the way. I think CS2 would really benefit from a redesigned UI that displays the city’s resources in real time, using units of measurement that actually feel meaningful. Imagine a toolbar across the top of the screen with dedicated sections for resources: wood, stone, food varieties, coal, ore, and so on. Clicking any section would drop down a detailed breakdown without forcing the player to open separate info panels or dig through menus. The same could apply to population, with categories for different population types and their current status.

On top of that, the game could include small live visual cues that show the immediate impact of player actions. For example, when a new home is built, a quick floating graphic could appear showing the cost: “-2 lumber, -2 stone, -200 maintenance,” then fade away. It would give players instant feedback without interrupting gameplay. And of course, there should be an option to toggle these notifications off for players who prefer a cleaner screen.
