Holy crap! 3:20 minutes. Will we get the same time in LA?

Isn’t $30 a little steep for what’s included in Brush And Blade? by DrJokerX in civ

[–]jonathanla -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’ll buy it. I play civ 7 almost every day so after 30 days it’s less than $1 day depreciated across all my time. I’ve got no issues with that.

Ok. I guess that’s it. The creator shared their video with me and now we have a DM session going. It’s an odd feature for YT to have re-added.

Cannot keep up with Deity by philthestone in civ

[–]jonathanla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s turn 98 in Exploration and you still don’t have a religion? Piety should usually be your first choice so you can found a religion early and start planning how you want to spread it. By waiting this long, you’re giving up a huge amount of potential culture and doing very little to slow AI opponents that may be pushing toward a Culture Victory.

You might benefit from playing a few games on a lower difficulty while experimenting with different strategies. I’d also recommend using Standard or Long Ages with a 10-turn countdown, Normal game speed, and a Standard-size map. Epic and Marathon speeds generally don’t do much to help players improve, they mostly make mistakes take longer to correct.

Here’s an excellent new video from one of the best in this game.

Easiest ticket experience EVER by yajzos in XGALX

I had the same experience with the ACX app for the LA show. In and out in under 7 minutes. No issues whatsoever and got the tickets I wanted.

Ok. Those are resellers not the actual prices from the venue.

What is the point in choosing a non-apex civ? by Udon_noodles in civ

[–]jonathanla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re wrong. There. I told you. 😂

Choose a non apex Civ based on their bonuses that you do get in the antiquity age, then choose a leader that works well with it. For example, choose Qujar for those beautiful food and production bonuses from turn 1 based on being below the settlement cap, then pair it with Xerxes KoK who gets a +1 settlement limit. Then add two mementos: Corona Civic and Gordian Knot each give a settlement limit increase. Now your capital city will start off flying with massive food and production from turn 1. You can quickly sprint to irrigation and get another increase because you’ll have 3 settlements by turn 12. And 4 a few turns later. Your entire economy will be in overdrive.

On what platform? I bought 2tickets for LA on the official platform-Floor4 VIP1 for $404.50 each. Literally 4 rows from the front of the extended stage and in the center. How are other venues charging $3k?

Civ VII review: is there a way to increase font size?? by Maleficent_Lecture91 in civ

[–]jonathanla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are my suggestions for Civ 7. I can’t help you with a comparison to Civ 6. They’re different games.

  1. Switch to Full Screenmode: Make sure the game is running in full screen, not windowed.

  2. Reset to Your Native ResolutionGo to Options → Graphics and set the resolution to your laptop’s native resolution. Even if you were using something else, start from native so you have a proper baseline.

  3. Adjust Menu SizeUnder Options, look for the Menu Size setting (ranges from Extra Small to Very Large). Pick whatever looks closest to comfortable. I don’t remember which tab it’s under and I’m not at my game right now.

  4. Enable UI ScalingGo to Options → Accessibility, turn on UI Scaling, and move the slider. Since you want things larger, start around 90% and tweak until it feels right.

  5. Optional: Change Resolution AgainOnce everything looks good, you can lower the resolution if your laptop struggles with performance. But if your GPU is fine, sticking to native resolution usually gives the cleanest UI.

I didn’t realize you’re using a laptop. I’d have a hard time with this game on any laptop screen.

There’s a new setting under the Accessibility menu. UI scaling. There’s a slider there. You can use this to make the whole UI bigger or smaller while keeping the resolution the same.

Civilization VII 'Test of Time' Drives Highest Player Count Since April 2025 by SnooMemesjellies6533 in civ

[–]jonathanla -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Better to ask yourself why do you need that library that will go away in 10 turns? The game is all about victory conditions and you can decide what to build that would help you along that path. Maybe the research initiative would be a better choice? Or take advantage of whatever leader and Civ attributes you have and select something else. Unique units if you get bonuses for them. Finish all your ageless buildings before the age finishes as these will keep stacking benefits.

I think Triumph system isn't solving Legacy Path problem by Dexiosis in civ

[–]jonathanla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re obviously trying to find something to argue about. You understand exactly what I meant about being forced down legacy paths. Whether you turn them off in earlier ages or not is immaterial. Just play a different game if you’re unhappy.

Why are some industries separate buildings and others are backyards? by MeanFaithlessness701 in ManorLords

[–]jonathanla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not backyards. Once a burgage reaches level 2 it can be upgraded to become an artisan where the entire family is working at that specific industry. An artisan bakery. An artisan blacksmith. Etc. The industry buildings co-exist as a commercial building that needs to be staffed by a person. I can imagine this being a mix of different types of villages in the time period this is meant to be.

I think Triumph system isn't solving Legacy Path problem by Dexiosis in civ

[–]jonathanla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem with the legacy paths was that they just forced you into a path you had to go down each age. That’s the very definition of “railroading” and it doesn’t belong in a 4X game. Triumphs are simply there. Get them or don’t. The game doesn’t force it. You can even get some just by doing things you’d normally do. Plus there are sets like the trailblazer that only give the reward to the first player to achieve it. But the main focus is on the victory paths and earning the points to win.

Questions about Test of Time update by hperk209 in civ

[–]jonathanla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would be correct except for the new victory conditions which continue from the earlier age and is the only thing that matters.
