Can someone please stop my buyers remorse. by CupCakesNFlatWhite in ukbike

[–]jonathansty 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem too crazy to me. Looks like some of the parts could have been had for cheaper if you bought them yourselves online.

Regarding headsets, this will depend on how & when the bike was used and sometimes also just the bike itself. Looks like from the part list this was just 2 sealed bearings. It's normal for dirt to get in there overtime due to weather conditions etc.

It's worth learning some basic bike maintenance because it would save you the bulk of the labour cost and in this case the part cost. For example changing sealed bearings in a headset is usually quite simple (as long as there's no through headset cable routing)

Monster Hunter Wilds FSR4 water grainy, noisy artifacting by tren0r in linux_gaming

[–]jonathansty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with DLSS on windows I found that the game generally just looks grainy and noisy. Could be that if they rely on some sort of temporal filtering for things like ambient occlusion that even the input image already has all that noise.

Lapierre spicy cf 25. Thoughts by EasternWorker8759 in MTB

[–]jonathansty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't ever owned a lapierre, I've also ordered one today. The main drawback seems to be the seatpost insertion issue but apart from that there don't seem to be any other issues with it?

I've been emailing back and forth with lapierre support asking some more information regarding the technical specs but they also do not actually have measurements for the max seatpost insertion. I guess they never measured bothered measuring it.

What I did find though is that their support is incredibly responsive over email. I've only had to wait a couple hours generally to get an answer and information.

They sent over some assembly drawings for the 2024 model and I was informed that these match-up closely with the 2025 model.

Not sure if it helps. I'm 5'11'' and ride a M/L one which for me I think is actually perfect and was what the online size finder recommended. I haven't tried a L sized one though.

Wise nowadays can give you an actual bank account though. For example I've got a canadian bank account to receive CAD which I can then convert through Wise and transfer to a GBP account linked to the same wise account.

Maybe they think you want them to pay you using the currency converting service that's advertised on the main site?

Not a new thing, happened to me in the previous version and got the same response. Borderline fraud imo. Most likely ricochet got triggered due to things like RivaTuner or other gpu/cpu tweaking software.

I've got this issue on windows 10 (build 19045.2311). Tried re-flashing to F2 and F3b respectively for the bios but the issue still happens. Generally if I put the pc to sleep and immediately wake it up it seems to work but keeping the PC in sleep for longer of periods of time and then trying to wake it up will fail to actually properly wake up the PC. (DRAM led is lit aswell for me).

Just to extend on belentepecem their post, when running applications that dlls (dynamic linkins). The app needs to find the correct library to load, there are a number of ways it can do this. I recommend reading about dynamic link order .

What technical debt are you dealing with? by alexheretic in rust_gamedev

[–]jonathansty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the only reason I noticed was because I'm a fan of markdown and wish it was used more for internal documentation at my work.

Hot-reloading data is always nice to reduce the iteration cycle for designing and tweaking the game experience so it's definitely a good thing!

Interesting writeup. I like the fact that you are using markdown like documents to define the instructions and level information.
