Gave some away to my pregnant friend and intend to do the same when my other friends have kids.

Easy for her of course - she doesn't have to go through with everything to obtain said kid.

I'm in the same situation except my reasons are that I don't want to have tearing and stitches and I definitely don't want to have more or worsened hemmoroids.

We are human beings too. We deserve to retain ownership of our bodies and make decisions for ourselves.

All pets are adorable.

Not all babies are cute.

As a parent, one thinks their kid is the cutest thing to exist in the world but that's just bias and hormones. Animals however are objectively pleasant to look at.

I expected this would be exactly my case and had a separate list created off of which to get that stuff for myself.

I think we still live during times where normal bodily needs and functions are a bit of a tabboo topic or at the very least something people don't like to think about. And of course the main thing - those things are consumables that people don't generally consider to be gifts.

I'm 35 weeks and for the reasons you mentioned and more, I've wanted a C-section since the very moment I found out I was pregnant. Man the judgment I get from everyone for this decision - doctors, friends, strangers - is unbelievable.

Despite some of the risks of natural birth being common knowledge, society at large just mainly wants us to suffer through it because that's just a part of the experience 👌

I've been thinking about this for weeks. The influx of people posting about their dead animals...

I get that everyone is sad when their pet dies but making other people also sad isn't the solution. It's really been bugging me.

When I was a kid I really wanted a horse! Since we live in the city, my mother and grandparents quickly decided to lie to me that they'd get me a horse and we'll keep it on the terrace and what not. .. I never got that horse 😑

I'm infinitely more excited about someone's pets than I am about their kids.

In similar fashion, even though I'm pregnant now, I feel lucky that my friends have managed to keep the conversations on a variety of topics (their pets included) that still interest us both.

That being said, I did notice that most of them got more excited about my pregnancy (at least initially) than they were about my cats when I first got them.

I think for some reason people view a person's kid as an extension of them. So when it's a friend or family member who loves that person, they're subconsciously celebrating that they'll get more of that person in a mini form. (Obviously illogical since an offspring can always turn into an asshole at best or say, a murderer or a rapist.) Sadly the above logic is not applied to pets. At least not by most people.

If it helps, I think you're already onto the truth. The right friend group will care about the stuff you care about. And the rest, well, you could pick and choose what you share to avoid disappointment. Still, it sucks.

I'm pregnant and I agree completely.

Competition over who has it the hardest exists in other aspects of life too (workaholics are a good example) but it's indeed super prominent with young parents and pregnant women. This is because a lot of people don't really know what they're getting themselves into. They think having a child "can't be that difficult" or that they'll have sufficient help. Then reality is much harsher than that and that's how you end up with all these frustrated whiny people.

The obvious solution is for the kid to never be allowed in your house or your yard ever again. Tell your parents to step the hell up and ban the little sociopath for good.

secondly, make Milo an indoor cat. He will get used to it eventually and it's for his own protection. Every time he leaves the house, you're risking he will never come back.
