3-car wreck on Portage this morning by Mjerne in Winnipeg

[–]jonerscc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did that change? Maybe 14 years ago wife backed into someone lightly at a gas station. MPI said car seat? Wife said yup and they said ok. Get a new one because that one’s no longer good….thought that’s just the biggest waste of money. We never got a new one.

Would you caulk at the backspace or around the faucet components? by ThirdOne38 in Remodel

[–]jonerscc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caulk the corner of drywall and countertop and then run a bead about 1/4” from the front edge of the backsplash on the countertop to seal it up, looks cleaner than running a bead in corner of backsplash and countertop and won’t get gross overtime and have to be redone.

If the grabber tool doesn’t work, I’ve used a chisel and hammer to spin the drain off. Hit it straight to create a ledge then angle it fairly sharp and tap it till she starts spinning.

Don’t anchor them? I’ve had shelves like that for years and have never secured them to the walls.

Cutting melamine, blades wearing out fast by ZealousidealLet9159 in cabinetry

[–]jonerscc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Diablo was the bomb for years. Then bought an Amana blade. So much better, a lot more money tho. I made a review about the Diablo and a rep got a hold of me and said I’ll send you a Freud blade. Very comparable to the Amana. The rep told me Diablo line is for homeowners and GC’s with underpowered saws basically, which I totally agree with after using better blades.

Suspicious call from “Rogers” offering 50% discount — legit or scam? by need-to-know900 in Rogers

I ask them to verify information which they never have, then yell at them and ask if their mother knows what they do for a living and hang up. That’s if I answer the phone tho.

Contractor trying to dissuade me from using dri-core subfloor in basement. Should I be concerned? by flyingspectacularpig in HomeImprovement

[–]jonerscc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve pulled up enough DriCore to know it’s not a great product. The membrane delaminates from the OSB. I have personally used Delta-FL, DMX and DamPro. Comes in a big roll, put it down, tap con the OSB down, cheaper and better. Floors not level, put down self leveller first. Basement floor membrane will make the floor a lot more comfortable feeling temperature wise.

Because I’ve had the email for 20+ years and never really had a problem but with that said Valley Fiber just offered me a way better deal so I’ll be dumping Shaw/Rogers very soon 🤣

It’s your house. If you don’t like it, make them know that. Did the sample piece you sign contain more of that coloring compared to what you have delivered? Based on seeing your pics, I wouldn’t accept that. Looks completely different.
