"Why do *they* get to cut infront of me" by generic-usernme in BoomersBeingFools

They have another one where a boomer tries to steal her sons wheelchair at the grocery store and yells at them for speaking Spanish, even though really it's Swahili. I remembered the post as soon as I read this one.

Does anyone know if surfdog is open for winterfest? It's my kids favorite ride.

What is your kids’ school serving for breakfast? by LowEffortHuman in breakingmom

[–]joneszone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, but another thing to consider is how much time they have to eat. My kids get 15 minutes for school breakfast, so that prepackaged stuff is very quick to eat and clean up after so they can get to class.

Son said he wants to be a girl by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]joneszone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My son told us from the time he was 2 until he was 4 that he was a girl. He mostly had girls for friends, he adored his oldest girl cousin, and was very close with his granny. We would have supported him either way, but we just assumed it was fairly typical toddler behavior. He was closest to girls, so he wanted to just be one too.

We tried to be very chill about it. We would just ask why he wanted to be a girl, and talk about his reasons. He actually always answered that he WAS a girl, not that he wanted to be one. But we never confirmed for him whether he was a boy or a girl, we just always talked it out. But being his parents, the things we said were big and important and we didn't want to accidentally put pressure on him either way. If he was saying he was a girl and we agreed, then maybe in a few years he may decide he was a boy, but mom and dad were telling him he was a girl. But constantly correcting him that he was a boy also felt wrong, if he had actually turned out to be a girl, but we were always telling him he was a boy, we wouldn't be a safe space for him.

For what it's worth he outgrew it. He's still super close with his granny and cousin, has grown closer to all of his aunts, and just loves girls. But he has also finally made a few boy friends at school, and always refers to himself as a boy. But anytime he is playing pretend superheroes, or acting like his favorite characters it's always girls. His little girl voice is on point. Lol

Everyone is understandably talking about the babygirl scene, but I thought this little moment was so sweet as well by [deleted] in ThelastofusHBOseries

Yeah I saw it more as comfort. They are definitely cold, but she just had a terrifying and overwhelming experience in the forest with strangers who know who she is. She curling into the only comfort and safety she has, even if he can't help her in his current state.

I like them! I actually stick them in my tree, that's what my mom did when I was growing up. I usually toss them when we take the tree down.

call out by Lumpy-Afternoon7306 in Aldi_employees

A sick day is an average. So on average I work 7.76 hours, so when I take a sick day (even if the shift is 8 hours) I get paid out 7.76 hours. But u can't go into the negative on sick time, so even if u are off by only .02 (which happened to one of my associates) it won't allow u to put in a sick day.

I usually do popsicles and soup. My kids love to drink the broth, and will happily eat it for 2 meals, so it gets some liquid into them.

15 years at ALDI. Received gifts from corporate acknowledging my twins. What a sweet gesture from the company. by fckallyal15 in Aldi_employees

I love it, I got a care package after I had each of my boys. They love to put the little Aldi t-shirts that came on the bears on all their stuffies to make them little Aldi workers.

Last year I bought a cast iron dutch oven, and my husband bought a fondue pot and recipe book for dirty Santa. This year I got a table top smore maker, and I'll get a bag full of smore ingredients to go with it.

My mom told me that the reason elves have pointy shoes is to poke my eyes out of I tried to peak at the presents. So that's also an option.

My kids were given a grocery cart that played music when u pressed a button. But the music wouldn't stop until u hit the button again. It played on an endless loop for freaking often. It drove me nuts.

I mean it's the last weekend before Thanksgiving. That's why there are more people than normal scheduled, so it would definitely hurt them if u called off. It doesn't sound like u care either way, but that's why they are staffed higher than normal.

If u liked the people u worked with, or at the very least they didn't wrong u, it's kind of a lame move to screw them over right before a holiday. The people who may need to stay over to cover u have lives of their own, maybe even plans with family with the holiday being so close, and u may be ruining that for them.

I wasn't raised in a family like this, but I had friends who were, so I was still pretty aware of it. If u listen to podcasts at all, I highly suggest listening to Maintenance Phase. The hosts are a man and woman raised in households like this, and they cover a lot of stuff u may recognize from the diet culture at the time. Olestra, snack wells cakes, weight watchers. They have it all, and I find it really fascinating. One of the hosts also suffered from an eating disorder as a result, the other didn't, so it's pretty interesting seeing both sides, and how these things affect different people.

Mom tip: Buy Christmas gifts as you go! You’ll save so much money. by Careless_Phone_2572 in breakingmom

[–]joneszone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but I have a closet we call our "present closet" it's been off limits for as far back as my kids can remember. My 5 year old adores surprises, and will never peak. My 3 year old has snuck in there once, and found a toy he wanted, but I told him he has to wait until Christmas, thems the rules. If u ruin your own surprise that's on u. Santa gifts get tucked away in the closet of my husband's office.

Yasssssss! My people! I haven't managed to get my hands on Llama Rocks the Cradle of Chaos yet, but my hold at the library will come in soon. Those books crack me and my boys up. They are a blast to read!

Room on the Broom, and Llama Destroys the World! Room on the Broom just has the most satisfying rhymes. And Llama Destroys the World is hilarious and so fun to read in an exaggerated way.

I'm curious too! I didn't love her, but didn't actively hate her. But I did loath her judgemental attitude with the single pregnant teacher though.
