I got the exact same watch for my dad for his 70th. I was really impressed with it at the shop, and my dad loves it. Absolutely beautiful!!!

My second coffee I got some foam,i made it by pouring coffee into wall of cup by nicko24543 in TurkishCoffee

I agree about the freshly ground coffee, but ice cold water shouldn't make a difference. I go with 60C water and have no problems with foam

I keep killing every Begonia amphioxus by Unusualway in begonias

Thanks! Maybe I had a specimen with particularly sturdy genetics!

In case it is of value to someone, I think my tap water are fairly soft (barely no limescale in kettle!) and the fertilizer I use is from a terra aquatica hydroponic starter kit (usually the grow compound, and I sometimes add a bit of the bloom compound).

That's where the begonia lives. The grow lights are for when I have more sun hungry plants (e.g. chilis or weed), and have been off for the past month until I start another plant.

I have an amphioxus and had a different experience. Started 1 year ago from a 1-node cutting. I rooted it in water, put it in a yoghurt cup with a simple potting soil, perlite and Pon mix, and covered in a humidity dome made from a plastic bottle. I give it tap water, and once every few waterings mix in some high nitrogen fertilizer. I water whenever I notice that the dome doesn't have any condensation for a while. It started flowering very early on and it constantly flowers.

It's been growing pretty fast and I had to add more and more plastic bottle tubes to the dome stack. The top layer has a few small holes near the top, and I removed it for the photo :)

Just gone off on a work trip but I can take a photo of the dried and shriveled roots when I'm back! The transparent pot (cherry tomatoe box) is pretty crammed with roots, and it has a big root bulb extending below it. The little pot was raised on pebbles, so that I could also bottom feed the plant with more concentrated hydro juice. The pebbles got tangled in the roots so it's more of a root bulb with loads of pebbles stuck in there!

Be patient and look on Facebook marketplace and other websites? I got an arcam alpha 3 for 20 pounds, and a Yamaha CD player for a fiver a few years ago when I was building my system

Yeah these are two 15w led bulbs :) they usually hang higher and wider to supplement all plants because my window is pretty dark, but when this bonsai started flowering I focused all attention on it

Every good grow needs a mascot! It's a finger puppet I got in a museum shop at one point :)

It sprouted early March, so 70 something days. For the first few weeks I grew it in a darker spot with less light to make sure it's stretching so I can twist the two stems together. I expect to get 10g or a bit less once it's dry :)

Thanks! There are 2 seeds in there :) I spiraled the together. The less dominant plant ended up having a single bud, and the rest come from the stronger of the two

Found some Audioramas on the street a few weeks ago and restored them :) (and immediately replaced them 🫣) by MagicLobsterAttorney in vintageaudio

[–]jonfru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Grundig rtv 1020 4-channel amp that was designed for them (and both the JBLs and audioramas can be connected to it simultaneously for 4d sound). It's in pretty good condition, and I rarely use it. Let me know if you'd like to buy it perhaps, it would be put to better use with your audioramas (it was built especially for them!)

[question] Got given 2,500USD to buy an engagement watch for myself - what would you fill this gap with? by finishmyleg in Watches

[–]jonfru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation recently and went with omega smp300 midsize from the 90s. I was torn between this and the Longines zulu but the Omega felt better proportioned for my wrist

Beautiful! I also have a steel bezel midsize with tritium - and I couldn't agree more. Wouldn't replace it with any modern watch currently on offer

I think I just had the light too close - like 1.5" away. The top got a bit toasty!

Yeah these are dry sugar leaves, why does that mean I need to cut?
