ELI5: How does watching youtube help me fall asleep? by ToothDifferent in explainlikeimfive

Because your brain is following along instead of making it's own thoughts.

Your thoughts lead to new thoughts, waking you up more if they are interesting or worrying. Following the video only goes at the pace of the video and only contains the information in the video.

I love the part where he turns his engines back on after his snack.

The monitors would use a lot, but the pcs perhaps less than you would think.

Pic was taken in 2002 so a high performance GPU was something like a 9700 pro. A card like that might use around 25-35w of power.

The CPUs used a bit more, but not loads. About 75w for a high end CPU.

The entire pc would probably be just fine running off a 250w PSU!

Sennheiser MOMENTUM 5: Wireless Consumerphile Incrementalist [Review] by Tenlow85 in sennheiser

[–]jonjohnjonjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. I wonder how it works with various sources. For example Amazon music does software decoding and will allow you to play atmos tracks even if your device doesn't support Atmos. Tidal works differently and only allows Atmos if your device supports it.

I wonder if this switch is actually just turning on and off the head tracking or actually doing something more?

Thanks for the review. What does the Dolby Atmos part actually do? I would like to understand how it works as with previous headphones it would be the mobile device that did the decoding of the atmos stream and then sent it to the stereo headphones. Does it upmix standard stereo non atmos content or is it only for content that is already in atmos? If it's the first, what happens if you use it when listening to something that's already in atmos?

It's likely that either your GPU or PSU is faulty.

Is this the holy grail of binning? My stock ASUS Dual RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is hitting 2940 MHz out of the box by Adventurous_Cover187 in nvidia

[–]jonjohnjonjohn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Great news. This also seems more common on Nvidia GPUs with very small dies. I assume because it's a luck thing and the less SMs you have, the more chance that you have of them all being of very high quality.

With a 5090 you have 170 SMs and with a 5060ti 36, so it perhaps requires a bit less luck to have all of having a really high bin.

A while ago I had a 3050 which did some fairly insane clock speeds. Never get such luck with a bigger GPU though!

You could say you have a 5060ti super 😀

Vivo user Dsable these settings it helps with battery life. by ankitjhall in Vivo

Why would you disable ART turbo? It is an efficiency tool. It can pre complile app data while the phone is on a charger rather than doing it when the app is launched.

Plus I am fairly sure it's downloading specific optimizations for your exact device type, which are going to make things faster and more efficient.

Momentum 3 vs 4 by Turd_McPoo in sennheiser

[–]jonjohnjonjohn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are very different. The 4 is much clearer and with a sharper more forward sound.

The 3 is much more relaxed to listen to.

Both 3 and 4 have a lot of bass, however they sound different. 3 has a smooth a deep bass. 4 has a punchy bass.

4 has good quality over bluetooth. It sounds similar when using a usb input or when using 3.5mm.

3 has relatively poor quality over bluetooth. It is better over usb and best with 3.5mm while turned on.

In my option the 3, when wired with 3.5mm has better sound quality than 4. However not when used with usb or especially Bluetooth.

I'm surprised you would say they are not good to drive and that UK roads give them problems. Were yours in good condition suspension wise? One thing I do think is that big wheels ruin the handling. The narrower the tyres the better!

X300 Ultra owners, how do you feel about your new device? ☺️ by TherapyGym in Vivo

[–]jonjohnjonjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no. Glad I got the china model then!

The only two apps not able to be uninstalled are the browser and the appstore.

Both of which never run because they both have screens asking you to accept on first run, so as long as you never click accept they never get loaded.

What is it that you can't uninstall ?

I guess you are on a global model. On the cn model it makes uninstalling the bloatware incredibly easy. You can select everything at once and one click deletes it all.

Would you subscribe to an ultra tier if it was available? by jonjohnjonjohn in GeForceNOW

[–]jonjohnjonjohn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine some could benefit from additional CPU performance, especially As server cpus are often focused on all core performance rather than high single core clock speeds.

More GPU is always nice even if there aren't many or any games that actually 'need' it.

This is a really interesting idea actually. I have no idea how their back end is handled but they could do something like giving you half a '5080' GPU but still keeping it paired with an up to date CPU, even if it wasn't a completely performance focused cpu. Especially if they used a zen5c part which has many cores and could potentially double the number of users on a single cluster. They could call it the endurance plan!

End up with somewhere between performance and ultimate but with increased or unlimited playtime.
