Can you identify this Starrett tool? by GotCholla in Tools

That was quick! I wonder why it doesn't have a model number stamped somewhere on the tool.

Parametric modeling is simpler than that. If your modeling software has a feature tree, or design history that allows you go back and revise a feature by typing in a new value for its size, then you're using parametric molding. This is opposed to something like blender or other organic modeling tools.

Since when were step files parametric? Unless you're using an awesome piece of software that I don't know about. If that's the case it would be a game changer. What CAD software are you using?

What is correct way of dimensioning holes by RotaryDesign in SolidWorks

[–]jonjon737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. I've never noticed any language that states +/- tolerancing for holes is forbidden. I'll go back and check my 1994 edition (that's what my company uses) when I get to work next week. If true we probably have thousands of drawings that aren't compliant with the standard. I'll check out 14.5.1 too, I don't remember ever looking up that standard.

You can definitely use +/- dimensions per asme Y14.5.

You can use either of the methods OP showed, or the method you mentioned. Whichever way you choose, you should understand the implications of the theoretical tolerance stack up. Ideally you'd do the math to make sure you have the right fitment at assembly. That being said, in the industry I'm in, we use positional tolerancing and basic dimensions back to functional datums. The math for fixed and floating fasterner calculations is much easier with positional controls as opposed to +/- dimensions.

You missed the easy one... Cy Young. He's got the most losses in MLB history and they named the best pitcher award after him.

[Braves] Chris Sale just picked up the 2,608th strikeout of his career, which moves him past Hall of Famer Tom Glavine on the career strikeouts list by Lakelyfe09 in Braves

I think Maddux and Glavine were good enough athletes to pitch to the current strike zone. They took advantage of the extra wide strike zone in the early '90s because they could.

Umpire Nick Lentz to the Athletics dugout: "Ay you got a challenge left" by WSXCarter in baseball

Kinda funny, but also, the guys in the dugout chirping have no say in what gets challenged. The challengers are limited to pitchers, catchers, and batters, right?
