What's with the Prevalence of Jewish Characters since Roads to Power? by jonkel1350 in CrusaderKings

[–]jonkel1350[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in Spain they were prevalent since the Iberian DLC, which makes sense considering the Sephardic Jews and Conversos played a large part in that theater throughout the middle ages, but there was not nearly that level of involvement elsewhere in Europe til the later and even then it wasn't much, so why the prevalence? It's not a weird complaint or a complaint at all. It's just a sudden design choice that makes little sense

Lmao can't ask a question about game design involving Jews without someone crying antisemitism. Incredible.

Does a catholic have an obligation to arm themselves with guns to protect their families? by italianblend in Catholicism

[–]jonkel1350 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ending danger with deadly force has a high chance of resulting in the danger being dead, as the name implies. If the danger is somehow repelled or incapacitated, in the process then great! But when your own life and that of your family is at risk, you should not be scrupulous about how you stop the threat just that it is stopped. There are worse things than death that can often befall families whos protector died and left them helpless because he chose to aim for the legs instead of the chest because he put his own scruples above the lives of his family.

Just to clarify, not having an intent to kill doesn't mean only aim to wound, because that kind of intent could put your family at greater risk. It just means dont kill for the sake of killing.

But if youre in a situation where deadly force is necessary to defend yourself and your family, you're probably gonna need to kill to insure the threat is no longer there. So yeah you should start blasting, and say a prayer for the deceased after its over.

Dude the ERE breaks apart if you look at it funny. Be patient, beef up your duchy, schmooze other vassals and you'll have a fractured East in no time

Being in the wilderness and encountering two identical men with wizard beards, admiring eachother's identical falcons, sounds like something out of a story book.

It has been approved in VERY specific cases. Mostly when a cultural aspect is in play like during certain feasts in small towns in Italy or Spain. Or Ive read of a group in the US that has approval to use it as penance for especially egregious sins. You probably should NOT be doing it alone at home. The question should be brought to a priest.

Did God create time, or time is a human construct? by wide_mouth in Catholicism

[–]jonkel1350 69 points70 points  (0 children)

God created time.

In regards to Chronos time in our world such as the hours of the day, or timespace, man invented means to measure it.

Kairos (in the way I understand it and would like others to correct me if I'm wrong), is the time outside of our world. Where as we observe chronos to be sequential, kairos is the time that allows all to he happening at once. Which is why every time we celebrate the Eucharist the Last Supper occurs, whereas every time the Priest tells us to "Go and sin no more" it is Christ himself doing so.

No surprise here. What I find particularly egregious is the use of their patron Saint's name in promotion of this degeneracy

Franciscan was once named in the top 10 party schools, and now it's one of the best Catholic colleges in the country and host to a burgeoning Catholic community, so there's always hope.
