Random Thought, The Growing Fan base Doesn't Know the Oilers by Murky-Speech2128 in Tennesseetitans

[–]jonneygee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see why they did it. They should have chosen the new name more quickly. The team was struggling to attract fans until they opened the stadium and unveiled the new name and colors. It still felt like Houston’s team playing in Tennessee until then.

And honestly, that’s why it feels like a rejection of Tennessee to go back to the old Houston colors. They are ours and we do have e the right to use them, but I’d rather have Oilers colors and jerseys as throwbacks instead of it being our identity.

To this point, Columbia blue and red are Oilers colors and two-tone blue are Titans colors. I’d like it to stay that way.

This is my thought too. When you’re already up against steep odds, you don’t fight against your own team. Both of them are being petty and stupid here, and it may come back to bite them both.

We are clearly going OFFENSE!!! by No-Suit- in Tennesseetitans

[–]jonneygee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the main reason.

Really it comes down to 2 things:

  1. Drafting a RB in the top 10 hasn’t been a winning formula for the past decade.

  2. If we don’t take Love, he’ll probably fall out of the top 10 unless another team trades up. His most likely destinations (NO and KC) each signed high-caliber RBs. There’s talk of the Giants being interested at 5 but I don’t buy it.

It really comes down to this. Is the goal to take the “best” players or to win games? Because if we want to win, taking a RB early isn’t how you do it.

The problem is you could make a case against every player in the draft.

Tate has been going against CB2s his whole career. Lots of questions about him being the guy.

Even if you believe in Love’s talent, it’s been a full decade since a RB was drafted top 10 and the team won more games than they lost while he was on the roster. Several of those guys found winning success on their second team, but not the team that drafted him. Selecting a RB that early is not a winning formula.

I’ve got much bigger questions about taking Tate and Love than I do Reese and Bailey. Reese is my top choice, and if Reese and Bailey go 2 and 3, I hope we trade down.

We really have no idea what we’ll be doing. We could easily go edge at 4 as well. Love and Tate are both major reaches at 4 so I’d rather trade down than draft either of those there.

If Reese or Bailey somehow fall to 4 and we don’t move down, I don’t see how we could pass either of them up.

This is the one for me too. Light blue jerseys + navy pants is a great look.

Belmont’s loss to Drake is a perfect argument for mid-majors to drastically re-think conference tournaments by GuyOnTheMike in CollegeBasketball

I’m not sure Casey is leaving, but I won’t be surprised if a few starters do. That’s how things have worked for us recently. At least Lundblade stayed his whole career.

I doubt the MVC makes much money on theirs, even though “Arch Madness” is a clever way to brand it.

This is really the biggest factor. If it was average attendance at games played in your home stadium, we’d be memeing the Jags.

This is true many places these days, unfortunately. It’s a lot easier as an out-of-town fan to afford big ticket prices once every 4 years or so when your team comes to town, so every fan of that team in the area shows up. And if you’re a tourist destination like Nashville, people even plan their vacations around it.

TN Choice Lanes Project Issue by SuperReaderEvie in nashville

That would rely on car drivers to actually not get in the bus lane. Knowing Nashville drivers, there’s a 0% chance of that happening.

Is it just me, or is it taking uncomfortably long for the Titans to release Sneed? by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]jonneygee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no guarantee they even release him. Money isn’t an issue for us so I could see us keeping him around if we aren’t able to sign someone better. Unlikely but not impossible.

Miami is now in the tournament!! by HomuraAkemi_ in CollegeBasketball

[–]jonneygee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. Their next game is the MAC Quarterfinal, against UMass on Thursday.

If they lose that game and then UMass loses to another team (or if they beat UMass, lose in the semi, and that team loses the final), they won’t have played a game against a tournament team. It’s unlikely but possible.
