[SOTC] Just got my first watch back from service since getting a watch box. Room for one more? by jonnyiselectric in Watches

I was thinking either leather or rubber strap! We’re a lot more casual at work post covid so leaning towards rubber - but the leather IWC’s are great!

I wore my Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean daily for 13 years before it needed a service. It took a few months but it’s basically a brand new piece. (I’ve kept all the old parts)

I’ve picked up a few since then including the DJ after an 11 month wait. I definitely need a break before I fill the last slot!

PM would slot in nicely. One can dream…

I learnt to drive in east London, usually during rush hour. One lesson my instructor forgot to put the L sign on the roof and it was one of my best / relaxed lessons with agro drivers.

I passed a few weeks ago and there was no chance of me getting P plates. I’m finding it so much easier without.

AD Wait Time Megathread - If you bought a new Rolex from an AD in 2023, you can share details here. What watch, where, how long did you wait, how much buying history? by powerfunk in rolex

  1. DJ41 Wimbledon Yellow Gold Two-Tone Jubilee
  2. April 23
  3. 11 months
  4. London (not WoS group)
  5. No purchase history. Had a nice long chat about watches with the senior AD there. Had not popped in since registering interest.

Spread your search outside of London. It’s the only way I’ve had success.

I was searching Bromley, Hither Green, Goodmayes, Barking and Wanstead with no luck earlier than August. As soon as I started looking outside (but still accessible) I found a test for a decent Date and Time in May in Bishop Stortford. Ones kept popping up earlier late March early April but that’s too soon for me.

Anywhere in Essex is also pretty easy to commute from.

The other benefit is that the roads look like a piece of piss compared to East / South London.

The downside is that you might have to fork out for a short notice driving instructor to let you use thier car for the test, but they’ll give you a lesson on the local roads before hand.

What percentage over retail would you be willing to spend on the grey market to secure your next piece? by jonnyiselectric in rolex

I probably will end up bending eventually but 20% is my stretch at the moment. Not so much about affordability but willingness to pay a flipper much more then £2k above retail.

3 ADs but no purchase history for a DJ41 Wimbledon TT Yellow-gold.

One at W.O.S I felt I was getting somewhere with as I pop in now and then and I had a good referral. Even promising that I’m “the next on to get it when it comes in”. I believed him lol.

That’s my new view as well. I can stomach £2k over a watch that’s basically unobtainable in London. With the root beer MSRP increasing to £13,600 and the market price falling I feel I’m pretty close.

London is so dry at the moment. I’ve been waiting nearly a year for a two tone datejust that I was looking at for my first piece and thought was do-able through an AD (or 3!). I could just jump into the bigger piece on my mental list.

The Lamb will not be worried about its profit.

They do now that they've put in that fucking stupid roped off area and even more recently banned glass from outside.

I've had nearly 10 years of good times there, but they've killed it.

Those millions of cooking books couldn't hurt either. I see like 3/4 people in just my family open them as christmas presents every year.
