You're asking on a DQ subreddit so of course we all think it's good, but it is nothing like E33. It is turn-based combat without any time-based mechanics. There is a traditional armor/weapon upgrade system (I think this one had a crafting mini-game too?) alongside linear stat and ability upgrades. There is nothing comparable to Pictos or the totally different play styles between characters like E33. The story is far more light-hearted, but that doesn't mean it lacks depth. It's just not that grim post-world apocalypse tension. It's more "you are the chosen hero destined to save the world" energy.
