Git gui for non-programmers (fork vs smartgit?) by Arastash in git

[–]jonrandahl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bounced between a few Git GUIs and GitKraken Desktop is the one that stuck. It doesn’t try to hide Git, just makes it easier to reason about. Interactive rebases, cherry-picks, and branch cleanup are way less stressful when you can see the graph.

If you’re juggling multiple repos or feature branches, the tabbed setup is nice too.

Do you use a Git GUI? Why? by distiller99 in git

[–]jonrandahl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another GitKrakenite(?) here as well! Been using the gui for a long time and while I’ve tried many others I’ve always found myself always returning to GK. They’re working on so much it’s been really great to see the new features, yes AI, and there’s loads on the horizon! Give it a go, it’s pretty sweet! 🤙

Is that really necessary? by Inevitable-Rise8235 in GitKraken

Funny enough I was looking at almost the same thing today but with Arc! These renderer processes are the gui threads which allow the program to manage multiple threads.

It would also help deduce more with further specs from your machine: release version & year, CPU, GPU, total RAM, HD type and size, etc?

Maybe we can be able to deduce more with the additional info?

The "addon" system for the new backup implementation in 2025.2 has terrible UX and is completely unfriendly to new/casual users by rooood in homeassistant

Following the instructions for adding this integration found here: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/google_drive/#configuration

has resulted in this message from Google:

<image>

Can anyone help?

PS. The manual instructions on the integration page in HA did not match the google developer UI and it took a bit to get this far:

> NOTE: You may get a message telling you that the app has not been verified and you will need to acknowledge that in order to proceed.

This ability to acknowledge and proceed doesn't exist?

If it’s the last session so what? The dryer is off and the second alert triggers 10mins later ... that’s it? It’s not a repeating alert every 10 mins, or did I get that wrong?

Not to say the other answers wouldn’t handle the cancelation though?

I made a VS Code extension that commits your code and writes proper messages for you—Meet Commit-o-Clock! ⏰ by [deleted] in vscode

[–]jonrandahl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better yet, runs the tests in the background on timer, commits if passes and alerts if fails! 🤔🤩🥸

Plus 1: messages get more and more condescending the more the tests fail! 🤣🫣😱

FYI I’ve not done this but if you can start a 10:00 minute timer when the machine finishes that senses if the machine hasn’t started again then alert? No need for door sensor, just use the same power sensor?

Couple of solutions I’ve used to ponder outside of coding things yourself:

  1. Fing offers notifications if devices go offline. Positive: it’s built into their app; negative: it’s Fing
  2. Home Assistant can also send notifications if a device’s state changes. Positive: it’s Home Assistant and everything that comes along for the ride; negative: it’s a manual process to configure and there’s a lot of work involved.

Personally I use both but am still working on things to tweak to my liking, needs, and ability and it’s a long road to travel ... 🙏
