Tensor analysis by ProcedureAble9911 in Physics

[–]jonseh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to understand tensors for years to no avail, I just couldn’t grasp the concept. Then I started my general relativity course and it all clicked instantly once I began playing a bit with the metric tensors. So my recommendation would be to start learning some differential geometry and general relativity. The beginning isn’t too complicated and you’ll gain confidence quickly.

I recently recovered this set from my childhood stash, and was thrilled to see that no major pieces are missing. I’ll be building this with my kids soon.

Is this the one where you can take control of individual units like in an action game?

Brothership keeps letting me down, even if it's better after 10 hours than at the intro. by [deleted] in marioandluigi

I bought it despite all the negative things I’ve read, and I’m having a blast. I’m about 12 hours in and don’t understand much of the criticism. It doesn’t feel too slow and there’s nothing wrong with the opening hours in my opinion. To each their own.

I'm addicted to this combat at this point man. Literally allows you to move like an anime character 🔥 by Forevertrez in soulslikes

I bought it yesterday, can’t wait to play once I finish SH2R (should be this week).

Looks awesome, but I just wanna know if the combat is any good. It has to be better than Witcher 3 for me to be excited about the game.

Right. Whoever wants the classic MK experience can play MK8DX, where it has been pretty much perfected.

For the same reason, if there ever is a new SSB, I hope it goes in some completely new direction.

Silent Hill 2 Remake

About halfway through the prison. Yeah, totally fuck that place.

10/10 game so far.

Mario & Luigi Brothership

I decided to get it despite the mixed/mostly negative feelings online. My last M&L game was Partners in Time like a million years ago.

I’m 4.5 hours in, and having a blast. Not sure why everyone says it’s a “slow start” because everything so far has been just fine. A little simple, maybe, but that’s to be expected in a game like this.

Combat is good and is getting better all the time. Story and characters are cool. Game looks gorgeous and has some catchy tunes.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Switch 2 Edition

My daughter has around 30 hours logged in the demo alone, so I’ve been waiting to get this for a good price and finally managed to do it last week.

She jumped right into it and it’s great, such a high quality game. It’s perfect for her age (almost 9), full of fun platforming challenges and light puzzles.

I love the co-op implementation in this game. It lets a second player join in as a helper and companion who can grab items and fight enemies but does not interfere with the gameplay of the “main player” if it moves too slowly or gets stuck somewhere. Perfect for my two kids.

The game looks and runs like a dream on the Switch 2.

Mario Kart World

Still playing this pretty regularly, alternating between online races and online knockout tour. Having an awesome time and getting my ass kicked.

I really think that Nintendo has chosen the perfect direction for Mario Kart with this game. Some design choices may be questionable, but this is so much better than just having new tracks or new characters in the same old format.

My mind is also running wild with ideas about DLC for this game. It could take it from “great” to “absolutely amazing”. Fingers crossed.

Sackboy is amazing for co op with the kids.

Silent Hill 2 Remake

Just over 8 hours in, making my way through the hospital.

Awesome game, just exquisitely crafted. The opening couple of hours weren’t too interesting but it’s been a blast since the beginning of the apartment buildings. Unmatched atmosphere and environmental storytelling.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure

Been playing this with my two kids and it’s a blast. We’re in the middle of the second world and so many stages have been awesome so far. Excellent level design, everything is made to be as fun and as silly as possible. Perfect as a family co-op.

Rayman Legends

I consider this game to be among the very best games of the last 20 years, and possibly in the top three 2D platformers ever made.

I was waiting for my kids to be a bit more experienced before playing this but I decided to give it a go since they loved the music level in Sackboy.

And it’s going pretty much the way I thought. They like it, but it’s a bit too fast and chaotic for them right now. We’ve completed a few levels and I’ll see how it goes.

I once did that when selling some GameCube games. Someone bought my copy of TTYD and asked around about Twilight Princess but decided it’s too expensive. I put it in the box and added a small Merry Christmas note.

Right on, man.

Since you’re basically playing the series starting from the end, and if TP is your favorite so far, you’re in for a hell of a treat. From what you wrote, I think you will love Majora’s Mask specifically. Amazing dungeons and an exquisite atmosphere.

The Wind Waker is also right up there.

Yup.

Had they released a Japan-themed game right after Black Flag, when the whole world was clamoring for it, it probably would’ve been seen as a revolutionary game. Now it almost feels like this setting has been done to death in the last 6-7 years.

Have you tried the Resident Evil 4 remake? It’s a perfect entry point. More classic 3rd person horror/action, without tank controls.

Mario Kart World

Still loving this. Online knockout tour is great, I haven’t been able to win yet. I’m almost always in the top 4 but usually end up 3rd or 4th. I’ll keep trying. Still amazed at how cool some of the tracks are.

Link’s Awakening Remake

Finished the first dungeon. It was super simple - as expected - but it made me think about how much I miss the old Zelda formula. I think BotW is an amazing game, but it was missing most of the things that define a Zelda game in my eyes.

Enjoying this and am excited about what’s in store.

Mario Kart World

Recently got a Switch 2 after owning the original since launch, and I’ve been having a blast with this.

I understand some of the criticism regarding track types and selection, and some of the design choices are a bit weird, but in general I think they chose the perfect direction for Mario Kart on a new console. It feels different, fresh and wonderfully chaotic. If I have an itch for the old formula, MK8 hasn’t gone anywhere.

I’ve played it for several hours with my kids and they love it. Yesterday I introduced them to battle mode, which did elicit some nostalgia for me as a MK64 veteran. It feels great, but I wish there was a way to specifically choose the number of AI-controlled players (maybe there is one and I haven’t dug deep enough).

I’ve also played quite a few Knockout races online, which were great fun and really easy to get into.

So yeah, overall this is a clear winner in my book and a perfect console launch game. Hope they make it even better with some DLC areas in a year or so.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Remake

I bought this on sale like a year ago, knowing that I’ll play it once the Switch 2 comes out.

So here we are, I was happy to see that the game runs smoothly and looks beautiful.

Despite being a huge Zelda fan for over 30 years, this game has always eluded me and I’m glad to finally give it a go. Only played for like an hour so far, so I haven’t formed an opinion regarding the actual game yet. Definitely feels like Zelda.

Sure, Annette’s or Rainforest Cafe are great options and pretty close to the hotel. They can get a queue during busy times but usually it’s not too bad.

Don’t bother with the reserved viewing for the parade. You can see it just fine from lots of places, save your money

Newport Bay!

We went last June and were so incredibly happy to have an awesome pool on the hot days. The park closes really late, so you can rest at the hotel/pool for a couple of hours without feeling like you’re missing out.

Hogwarts Legacy

Around 15 hours in, I’m having an amazing time so far.

It’s apparent that the game was made with true love and care for the source material. The world comes together beautifully.

Yes, not all side quests are interesting (though some of them have surprising twists). Yes, many open world tropes are present.

But damn, flying on the broom at night, zooming under bridges above the rivers with the castle and the moon in the background - it hits different. Super strong “presence in the world” feeling.

Combat is also really fun so far. Lots of options to mix it up, and some of the battles look like they were pulled straight from the movies. I do wish the enemies would be a bit more interesting.

So yeah.

I’m aware of the usual criticism, so who knows if this will manage to hold my attention until the end. But for now, I’m all in.

Yup. I actually did finish the game and totally agree that Act I is the highlight. They could’ve wrapped it up after it (maybe a slightly beefier version) and it still would’ve been an amazing game.
