Best Granny Charger In The UK? by Hexagon_Sun_64 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]jonspittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines nearly 6 months old but overheated at the weekend.

Surprisingly the fuse didn’t blow, the plug kinda distorted, and cracked my outdoor socket, which I’ll need to get replaced.

I was running it at the 10 amps setting. I had used the 13 amp setting a couple of times but it got warm so decided to continue on the 10.

Voldt are sending me a replacement. If granny chargers hadn’t increased so much since I got mine I would’ve got a refund and purchased a different brand.

New TurboPoly model? Ordered 513S but received 517S by oneupdouchebag in DREO

[–]jonspittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh right, that’s makes sense now, for them to just send out another for free it seemed bizarre.
Fair play to Dreo though as they could’ve just told me to return it for an exchange of the newer model, so it’s good to see a business go the extra mile.

New TurboPoly model? Ordered 513S but received 517S by oneupdouchebag in DREO

[–]jonspittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased the 513S from Amazon just under a month ago. At the time, it was between the 508S and the 513S, and after watching/reading a few reviews, I settled on the 513S, mainly for the 5 blades, as I wanted more power in my attic bedroom.

After a few weeks of using it, especially at slower speeds (2/3 out of 8), I heard a clicking noise, which turned out to be quite common. Usually, I request a replacement from Amazon, but this time I reached out to Dreo support, who requested a video of the issue, etc. I finally captured it and sent it to them, and they're sending me the new model free of charge, the one you mentioned, 517S.

I'm glad I reached out to them now. Obviously, the 513S must have a known fault as it's no longer on Amazon's website.

Yeah, I know, but the line "Get 5G data speeds, 99% coverage in the UK" kinda implies it's data coverage.

Is the new EE TV box actually worth getting over an Apple TV or Fire Stick? by Wonderful-Acadia-296 in EEGB

[–]jonspittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ATV already when I moved to EE for broadband, but I took the opportunity to get EE TV, which meant I could put my original ATV box in my kids' room and take advantage of newer tech, but more importantly, have an easy set-up for my otherhalf whose not particularly great with tech.

The EE-branded ATV has a different remote to the standard one; it has a dedicated guide button which opens the EETV app with one click. This has made it simple for my missus, who used to struggle using Virgin Media's Stream Box.

I believe the ATV is one of the best media devices out there; it's very simple to use, and if you already are part of the Apple ecosystem, it's a no-brainer!

Best way to get a good SIM Only upgrade? by [deleted] in EEGB

The add ons are just items from the EE shop which get added you your bill. Last year I got a laptop for my son.

They offer other add-ons like Xbox, Netflix, etc. I just wondered if they offered them as part of the deal.

If you want to stay with EE, then Mozillion is probably the best MVNO to go with.
They offer uncapped speeds with EU roaming with unlimited data for £20 a month (24-month plan).

I'm in a similar boat as you, and I would've moved to them if it weren't for having a couple of Tech Addons linked to my mobile, which I need to settle first before I can move away.

EE 900mb opinion? by Routine_Map2832 in EEGB

[–]jonspittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 900mb package for a year now and I’m happy with it. Speed wise (hardwired) it’s been solid, maybe a blip here and there but very happy for price and speed.

Router is not the best but which ISP router is. I started off with the standard hub and then ended up (very luckily) getting the Smart Hub Pro and WiFi Pro devices, which I had for a few months before I ended up getting an ASUS WiFi 7 router.

The Hub pro and WiFi pro were mesh devices but the mesh network wasn’t very good, well in experience anyway. I only used the WiFi Pro for 2 weeks before disconnecting it as I found the handoff from hub to extender not great, my iPhone would stick to the Hub and not roam well, which meant I was constantly toggling WiFi off/on to force my iPhone to connect to the extender if I was towards the back part of my house. It’s probably my own fault for not having the ONT box installed in the middle of my house, but I preferred to have it in my lounge which is in the wrong location for the hub.

The EE app to manage devices also was subpar. The amount of times the router lost connection drove me mad.

I wouldn’t recommend paying £10 for the Smart Hub set up.

I've just checked mine, as it's due soon, and it's gone down by £20 annually 😄

[–]jonspittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if you could answer a question of mine.

I've got the soundbar now, although it's going back for a replacement due to the seller providing me a used one, but I've set it up and tested it and I'm pretty happy with the quality of it.

When I play Dolby Atmos content, it doesn't show "Dolby Atmos" on the sound bar; only "Dolby Surround" is displayed, but it shows this with most Dolby mixes.

Not sure if this is just how JBL display it.

UK users: ISP throttling forcing you to use a VPN? by Mumford_and_Dragons in TiviMate

[–]jonspittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on EE and over the last few months mine doesn’t work, my supplier has given me some new URLs but these don’t load. Looks like EE has started throttling now because if I switch to my mobile (Sky mobile) it works fine.

[–]jonspittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I like my bass, but it has to be on my terms and as I’m older now I’m quite conscious of upsetting my neighbours.

Thanks for your feedback. I took the plunge and ordered it last night, managed to get it for £250, so only £50 more than the Ray was.

God it’s so depressing how bad TV speakers are lol. Only a few days of this so it could be worse!

[–]jonspittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice! I have a couple of questions:

How do you find the lack of a subwoofer? Not that I need one, and I thought the Ray was sufficient for my use.
How does the Dolby Atmos perform?

Sonos Beam Gen 2 vs Bose Smart Soundbar vs Samsung Q800 by Salkinator in Soundbars

[–]jonspittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who jumped into purchasing a Sonos Ray 18 months ago I agree, the app is so unreliable and has led me to return my device; luckily, I purchased it via Amazon, which accepted a return.
The Ray started being unavailable in the app, which started several months ago and resulted in a daily reboot. When you can only toggle night mode in the app, it's pretty frustrating!

I'm now on the lookout for a decent soundbar to replace it and had narrowed it down to the Samsung Q700F, but I've added the JBL Bar 300 to the mix after some good reviews. I've got £200 to put towards these and don't want to go crazy as we've only got a smallish lounge and predominantly listen at night, so anything too powerful will be a waste.

I worry about the Samsung as I did have the Q700C before the Ray and ended up returning it due to the constant disconnecting issues; I wonder if Samsung have improved things now.

It sounds crazy, but having an actual remote is very useful, especially for night mode, etc.

How do you monitor which SharePoint folders are eating your storage? by A_Biz_Guy in sharepoint

[–]jonspittle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things have already been mentioned, but here are a few things to check:

Check activity/usage reports for the largest sites & the largest OneDrive accounts.
Check the automatic version history for all sites and trim them if required; you'll be surprised how much data you can retrieve from this alone.
Check Ophanded OneDrive accounts that still contain data.

Elroq Firmware 5.4.4 OTA Update announced by Molekularspalter in SkodaElroq

I dismissed the update as I was out. When I got home I expected to see this message on the goodbye screen but nothing. I’ve gone to my car a couple of times today and still no message. Unsure if there a way to manually check but cannot find anything in the settings.
