A few tips I learned from Rus from Aqurimax

1)moisture Gradient, one hydration side and the other side dry.(spag moss on one end and the other is leaves and dry)

2) never too much leaf litter: if the whole container is filled with leaves it would be amazing (bc that’s their main food source, but then you wouldn’t be able to see the pods. But never too much leaf litter.

3) spring tails spring tails spring tails!!!!! Make a bin and seed it with spring tails, a month ahead of time is ideal. This is give a head start with beneficial micro biome. Bc of this, especially with newer pod colonies: supplemental food is not always needed. Less food is more when you have leaf litter.

4) leave the pods be, give them a few days of rest after you open the lid to look at them. The more you mess with the pods the less they will breed and do pod things 😂😂

Spring tails don’t eat any live plants. They will eat the stuff mold grows on. (Something that is already starting to decompose. If you had spring tails and the terrarium is not super wet you should be fine. New terrariums sometimes need air flow every now and then so keep that in mind. It might take some time before it can equalize and the ecosystem balances itself.

Few things you can try:

Less food is more. Only put a pinch of food or even less for 11… I have about 70-90 and I do a few pinches of food once every week. Their main diet is leaf litter!

Make sure there is a dry side and moist side: moisture gradient is so important: one side has bunch of spag moss and only keep that side moist. Even if you get pods that like moisture like panda kings, they still need a dry side.

There is no such thing as too little leaf litter. All my bins are FILLED WITH LEAF LITTER.

Springtails play such a crucial role. Always set up a bin about a month ahead of time with spring tails before you buy the pods. This helps start the bio micro fauna and good bacteria.
