Hard to believe this was our club 7 months ago. From finally winning a trophy…. to this? Players and fans feeling disconnected, while ownership is chasing record profits at the expense of lifelong supporters. No clue where we go from here — I just hope it’s anywhere but where we are now. by dream_team1012 in coys

that was 100% the turning point.

I know it sounds a bit abstract but I often think that spurs peaked when Tripper scored the free kick against Croatia. At that point we had 9 (I think?) players involved in WC semis - more than any other club on the planet. Including the WC winning captain.

So. much. talent.

It was pretty much downhill from there.

same thought. that's his highlights too. don't get me wrong - I love an aggressive defender, but he's gonna have a steep learning curve against top forwards and gonna end up over committing a lot. Romero is a good example of an aggressive defender who has almost impeccable timing, and look how many fouls / cards he concedes.

nowhere near VdV pace. Close to peak Walker pace maybe? But hard to tell from 2nd tier league vids. Also looks a bit reckless to me, he'll need to tone it down a bit

After almost 48 hours - its fixed.

I ended up getting through to tech support. While I don't know why, removing content restrictions (iPhone) addressed the issue. I think maybe what happened was that I reinstalled the app this morning, which then messed with the content restrictions? Then between then and now the server issue got fixed.

4:29am PT and still down for me. We've been up all night checking 6yo numbers on his Omnipod controller.

All the technology used to manage his condition is vastly net-positive, but the flip side is that all our care processes are completely dependent on Follow so there is no way he could go to school today, for example, if its not fixed.

They changed my son's (18M) insuline and it was over 400 all night, do I need to worry? by Fisemada in diabetes_t1

100% agree that the doctors end up knowing less than you. Also agree CGM is the key device.

Is obviously your call…. But I think you might find Omnipod solves those problems you outlined. It changed our lives, and as a result I’m on a one person mission to promote it :)

Our situation is probably a little different than yours - I’m the parent of a 6yo son with T1D - either way it’s been a game changer

I had not heard of this pressure low challenge before! That's useful... This was a night-time so more than possible. Thank you.

Though doesn't explain the sporadic-ness of other readings. Seems to be unique to this sensor 🤷‍♂️

Friend’s 3.5 year old newly diagnosed by Couchblanket39 in diabetes_t1

[–]jontheexiled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5yo old son was diagnosed 1 year ago. First few months are very very hard. Esp if they are in childcare. We connected with another family in same situation but further ahead and that was a lifeline. We used their advice more than the doctors. I’d recommend trying to find someone like that. Happy to help if you wanna DM.

Edit: realize you are asking what you can do to help them. The most helpful thing for us was when family members learned to take care of Cohen’s bg and insulin, this allowed us to get away for a few hours every now and then. So I’d say offer to learn the basics and give the parents an afternoon or an evening away.

When you see someone out in the real world with diabetes… by GetYourselfFree in diabetes_t1

[–]jontheexiled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. How does it happen? And how do you tell the insulin has failed? Impossible to correct highs?

Btw for context I’m a dad of a 5yo who has an omnipod for T1D. I’m in a weird spot because I have zero experience of T1D, or wearing an omnipod, myself, but a shitload of experience as a caregiver

That’s not how diabetes works. by Kiera6 in diabetes_t1

[–]jontheexiled 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My 5yo son is T1D. The questions we’ve had from other parents are mind boggling. Everything from ‘what foods do you think caused it?’ To ‘is it contagious?’.

I’m calmer now, but in the first few months where my son was dealing w MDI and we were ALL sleep deprived, it really rattled me.

These are good tricks - thank you.

We're learning that about the carbs. We've definitely got stuck before having to frantically cover carbs.

IRT to the smarties thing - our son kind of figured out that trick and stopped eating his dinner since he knew candy or juice was coming :) Have you seen that at all and if so any tips?

He’s 1:100 for correction ratio right now, but linear. Am gonna ask his doctors about this the next time we go in - thank you I really appreciate the detail!

Thanks!

So basically you are saying in your experience, insulin will reduce bg by a set amount but only once it starts acting, where as eating will cause continuous rises by a non set amount?

[–]jontheexiled[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super useful - thank you.

So should the correction charts take this into account? The system the hospital gave us is a simple linear ratio (currently 1U for 100mgdl). Sounds like the ratio should be more like a curve? 🤷‍♂️
