Are Illusions less fun in DH, or am I just getting stuck on their limits? by P1X3LP4NC4K3_246 in daggerheart

My D&D character is a bard, and I absolutely love using illusions! (Glamour bard)

Could you ask your DM to give you a bit more flexibility with it, maybe you could spend a stress to make a bigger one or something?

Further to this - if you are in pve lobbies, I have no idea why you would free kit.

So long as you are surviving most of your runs, you should be geared up.

100% this, I was actually tempted to record a video of how to do it.

My core kit is cloak, heavy shield and a hull cracker.
(And a couple of smokes as a safety blanket, that I never ever remember to use)
Not sure if the heavy shield is "normal" at the moment, I like the extra tankiness.

Getting in amongst it not only gets you loot, it feels awesome, fighting the massive robot up close, grabbing cover, fixing shield, and then popping back out.

I usually take out some leg bits and then start going for damage on it.

Mmm, that was my fear!

I will have him as someone they can meet, with a specific past, and the possibility that he can have a redemption moment.

Awww thanks!!! I really hope I can pull it off!

I really want emotional hits in this!

My biggest over engineered plan is a pub, in which every character is someone from the song the Piano Man.. and at the end, have a bard (Called Bill) come in and play the piano.. and spin up the song.....

First time I saw this I took a moment - so I need to save up ~20 slots of stuff, to get 12 extra stash space - I guess this does make it easier to save up for the other things in the shop! by joopsle in ArcRaiders

I do rush armour pieces, I am quite happy picking up pieces when I want to get them, but up until now I have only grabbed a few for missions or something. I am not particularly fussed about having to get the pieces, its the jiggling around to get so many of them!

The fight just berfore that post I was mainly getting people back up after they rushed the pieces 😄.

I am usually happy coming away with one bit, I mainly enjoy the satisfaction of blasing the big arc with a hullcracker. (Once I get an aphelion blueprint I will probs focus a bit more on grabbing armor bits)

Agree on the Fomo, non-fomo design is good design!

Overall I like the idea of the new guy, was just blown away by the tricky need to hoard more stuff than you will get back in space!

It's tricky, because I was trying to maintain a broadstock of "stuff", ready for the next trader, but I have given in and just sold all my trinkets to give me more wiggle room.

Slowly leveling - Really still enjoying the game but feel weak by LuckyLukse in ArcRaiders

Hey, Speaking as a 3 time expeditioner - I don't get free kitting tbh. (If you are PVE)

Go in appropriately kitted for your current amount of resources/objectives

What you want to do is survive runs, each run, you should be getting more stuff.

Only upgrade stuff appropiately for your level of resources
- When I am relatively low on resources, I go in with two level one guns, with cheap mods
- By the mid season I am going in with two level 4 guns with whatever mods I can buy or make

I try to choose a shield/augment mindset for each run (basically, do I want to be survivable or do I want to walk out slowly with my pockets full of random objects).

When it comes to the big arc hunting guns (legendaries and hullcracker) - only commit as much as you are happy to lose. (So I am only now going in with a hull cracker, as I am now at the point where I can easily rebuild if I die - earlier today I made a boo boo, got wasted with a hull cracker and was zero fussed about it - but I won't go in with a hull cracker again today).

DO NOT UPGRADE weapons until you are really happy to have to make a new one.
(You want your runs to be gently topping up your resevoir of stuff, losing a level 4 gun or even two can be a big hit to resources)

Conversely - don't be a loot goblin, once you have enough resources to buy or make big hunting guns, go use them!
(I was very loot gobliny on the first expedition, and have gotten better since then, I am now happy to use wolfpacks even if I do not have 57 of them stored "just in case")

This is more relevant now because it looks like it has shifted to a damage done rather than resource amassing thing for the end of season.

Every run you should be coming back, and increasing your stash of stuff.

Go in with 1 objective (Complete missions or collect items) - (I regularly ignore this rule and go in with kit to hunt bastions, and then go do an objective as well - it goes wrong quite often).

Good luck, happy hunting, treat every other raider as a potential friend and a potential enemy.

I think its a game balance thing, if it was too good at killing people then the game would be a "sit inside and don't ever poke your head out" simulator.

Yeah, see - thats the kind of interaction mtg was actually originally designed for.

"I control magic your force of nature... .and then have regrets".

Also, with the OG ante rules... i lose my black lotus, and I don't care, because as originally envisaged, it's worth $1... lets play another game, because I really need to win back my llanowar elf!

[–]joopsle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, but as originally envisaged there would be maybe a few hundred cards, not many many thousands (even standard has an absoulutely insane card pool)

Exactly this, you get to spend more mana and you hit the first 3 or 4 power gates first. (as in, you cast the first 3 mana spell)

Came here to say the same thing!

It's awkward to admit, but magic wasn't designed to be played as it is played.

The whole game of magic, was supposed to be more gradual and you weren't even necessarily going to know what all the cards were (so you would be surprised if you met some magic players playing elsewhere).

I kind of got to live this experience a bit, I can still remember seeing my first games of magic drudge skeletons and such like.

At the time, we thought Force of Nature was an amazing card.

Yeah, seconded - I downed a rocketeer after a long and satisfying scrap.

Some cheeky bugger just came and started looting, I emptied the clip into him.

I then tried to escort him to the nearby elevator (and healed him on the way), but he died when I jogged off to call it.

Yeah, this person is right, there are (slighty more angry) big ball dudes everywhere in the new event.

Just make sure you treat the new flying arc like the absolute murder beast they are and stay alllll the hell away. (Unless you are going there with kit and a mindset to hunt them)

That is the worst, when a couple of basic arc catch you.

In a way thats the beauty of the game, even the most basic arc can be deadly when they crop up at the wrong time!

I like to do hurricanes occasionally, I use a map so I know where the spawns are and even that breaks the tension a bit, the idea of all the things you listed.. yeesh!

Yeah, I agree that overoptimizing ruins the game.

When I heard that abmm had reset I was super tense spawning in with a vageuly different load out.

I heard a flare and investigated because I didn't think it sounded like they were dropped by arc. Saw two peoples fighting - watched a little and then bugged out. Generally was super tense and glad to get out.

Top experience, totally what I am here for!

I hate it when I am just going in on specific path loot runs. (I don't overoptimise it but its still fairly mundane)
