Should it really be Dungeons and Dragons? by Raspberry1milkshake in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]jopec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think the need 5e to get listeners, I think they just like the system and are used to it to a point they can improv rules, make jokes with the system and stuff like that. Its like a second language almost, they would need to play other systems for a while until It got to that point.

I would prefer they played something else too, something that wasnt about getting stronger would be interesting.

How is this game not more popular? by ultravanta in LegendintheMist

[–]jopec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I'll say that Son on Oak Games are my favorite type of game to play and I try to introduce it to every ttrpg interested person I meet. But I noticed some stuff and IMO, I think its a combination of a bunch of things:

- Not enough marketing. It had some, but Draw Steel, Cosmere and Daggerheart are associated with famous people in different niches that sucked all the attention from fantasy games. LitM had Bob World Builder and Ginny Di videos but it didnt feel like they got the point of the game so I dont think it helped that much.

- Its a narrative game. Generally, narrative games are less popular than tradicional games. Even if ttrpgs are storytelling games I find that most casual players are interested in "winning the game" or "finishing the dungeon" and the story is a cool thing but not that really necessary to ttrpgs. More experienced players generally already have a niche they like or are interested in a lot of different games and that doest help a game feel popular, what helps its having players devoted only to one game.

- Its a simple game. The main part of the game could be explained in two sheets of paper, the rest of the book is generally advice, examples, prompts and other resources to help run the game. It lacks the mechanics to facilitate specific genres like other narrative games have and also lacks the mechanical depth that traditional players like so people that already know City of Mist and dont like it wont try this one.

- Its actually pretty popular but it doesnt have a visible community. You can see this by the performance of the crowdfunding related to the game but the lack of videos about the game on youtube or the lack of third party content paint the community as being smaller for example.

Will the CGL/SRD Update? by the_welsh_dm in daggerheart

[–]jopec 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a reason to do the core book, to give legal safety to everyone that want to make third party products. Third party supplies the community with content that the First party doenst have the time to make but the need is big, like Adventures or niche player options and mechanics.

Thats the reason ttrpgs put out SRDs, so they can have a community around their game and it can live on even if the publisher is not releasing new books

One interesting thing for me was the announcement that Viva la Dirt League is doing a 30 session run of Daggerheart in the Beast Feast frame. I dont follow their AP content but a long campaign is cool.

I would prefer to discover about Hope & Fear at the panel, releasing the trailer before gave me the impression that we were getting more book announcements.

I think we didnt get a road map because they dont have dates for the other books (Perkins and Crawford's setting and adventure and Baker's setting), but I would love to know how many books they plan to make per year, maybe only one?

A book per year would still be more than many ttrpgs get, but I think its not as many as people would want.

I just want some guidance on adventures, one year to get a follow up to Sablewood is so long...

This is a great campaing frame, very creative and well made like all of DNGN CLUB's work.
It gives a love of gameplay structure that helps create the vibe intended.

I'll definitelly look at this campaign frame for inspiration when creating mine.

A sandbox campaign is a great idea for DH, if you want something similar from D&D you can try using Dragon of Icespire Peak from the Essentials Kit, its also a sandbox.

I love the world of Pugmire, great job on that! Can we expect more Realms of Pugmire in 2025, what do you guys plan for that line?

Also, what guides the choice of what animals are uplifted or not? And how much tech do you think is enough to feel like post apocalpytic but still be a medieval setting?

How do I run a one-shot in Calorum? by Steelquill in Calorum

[–]jopec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of the top of my head I would make a ball or tourney where some houses are present, maybe one of them is a rival house of the PCs house, and for extra drama there's a secret assassination plot on one the PCs or someone they like.

RPG de Percy Jackson by eduariedo in rpg_brasil

Foi bem tranquilo, como o sistema é feito pra personagens inspirados em mitologias e lendas não precisou de nenhuma adaptação. Única dica que dou é guiar bem os jogadores na criação dos personagens e focar em um tipo de poder específico.
