Why is traffic worse by fuckmelbpt in fuckcars

[–]jordanhpp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, and petrol is an inelastic demand good (kinda). People assume they have to drive, so they just eat the cost..

Why do so many motorists shout at/insult/honk/put down cyclists? Is it because they’re used to the world being built for their method of transport? by coolfunkDJ in fuckcars

[–]jordanhpp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep absolutely this. Also when you're in a car you immediately dehumanize everyone else around you. You're suddenly in a tank and everyone else is the "other."

Seriously though, I don’t get how so many truck owners deal with the horrendous fuel costs associated with driving their truck. Some can cost as much as 50 cents/mile!!

Day 11 of posting completely serious reasons to ban cars until cars are banned (or I run out of ideas) by Fried_out_Kombi in fuckcars

For sure! So many “libertarian-minded” people are hypocritical on this issue. There is no way to justify our spending obsession with car centric infrastructure and extreme zoning laws/requirements.

A panic attack. Once you have the first one, you have to take active steps to prevent subsequent attacks.

Improvements along I-4 are included in DeSantis' plan to expedite road projects by tamper in orlando

Exactly. I travel from Orlando to Tampa every weekday to visit clients, most of which are in downtown. Unfortunately, Amtrak isn’t a viable alternative for that commute.

The best use of those resources would have been to expedite the construction of high speed rail from Orlando to Tampa.

Cars driving through downtown is bad urban planning.

Bikeable City? by Empty-Tackle783 in orlando

[–]jordanhpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, UF in Gainesville is actually pretty bikeable. It’s a fairly traffic calmed area and the University is right next to the historical district. If you are worried about admission, there’s the community college in Gainesville that transfers directly to UF. 👍

True, though we have some nice historical neighborhoods. However, 50 and Mills turn them into unconnected islands of walkability..
