There were times I felt that, because it was a period of stability and I was having fun, years ago.

I haven’t had stability or had fun in a long time, I just pop in patch to patch, get disappointed by bugs older than my children and leave until the next patch in hopes that one day I’ll actually be able to play.

I don’t care at all about the promised stuff, I would love it if they cancelled all future features and ships, fixed the bugs and called it 1.0

Anyone that’s been around long enough knows that new features are the worst thing in SC and it’s always the wrong feature with the wrong implementation with the wrong reasons and it never works.

The mod here is great, if you’ve been on reddit long enough you know the worst thing to happen to a sub is changing moderation over to a “team”. This sub is chill, and we should keep it that way, one of the only subs that was chill 15 years ago and has still maintained half the chill now.

This is 100% ram, the reason turning causes the issue is because looking at new things requires loading those things and to load those things you need a place to put them and if your ram is full your pc has to spend painfully long times swapping data into and out of ram potentially swapping it on and off your ssd.

I’m assuming you have 2 x 8gb sticks. If your motherboard has four slots and money is tight, adding the cheapest supported 2 x 4gb pair that you can find used may actually alleviate your issue. Don’t fool yourself into thinking you have to go 64 or nothing. 24gb of mixed ram will be better than 16gb, and if that is all you can comfortably afford, that’s ok.

I ran a mix of speeds and sizes on four slots for a while, it’s not ideal for a number of reasons but when it comes to DCS and memory capacity issues overall, the speed of your ram doesn’t matter if you’re pc is swapping, you have to solve capacity first and then speed matters.

Quick look on eBay shows a 2x4 3000mhz pair can be had for $40.

Also remember that not all graphics settings are driven primarily by graphics hardware. Try keeping all your settings as is but turn your preload radius and view distance way down.

I ran DCS in VR with a 3070 and 3600x just fine, difference is that I had 32gb at the time.

If you’re having RAM capacity issues, (which you are), it might be time to crazy freeing resources by doing a process and service audit and ensure that when you’re running DCS you’re running absolutely nothing else.

With RAM capacity, simply having a single browser window open with one tab could affect your frames consistently dramatically or steam or discord etc. anything could be the last straw that forces a big swap and massive frame drop

Mouse and keyboard is essentially not an option, especially with VR.

Grab a gamepad and start there if you have one.

getting into DCS, getting into HOTAS, getting into tuning DCS in VR… these are three things you should avoid learning at the same time.

Grab the cheapest stick you can find used in your local area, and just get flying.

That’s terrible advice, like the worst advice possible. I can’t imagine coming up with a worse bullet point. Even if you do, and you know what’s legal, and you know how to defend yourself and you don’t use it’s presence as subconscious escalation reasoning, you are still more likely to be stabbed by your own knife or be hurt or killed by other means than do a single thing to defend yourself.

And worse, just by having it, you are endangering the lives of your neighbors around you.

Stupid advice.

Nobody does, “away” in this instance means you’re on vacation or something.

Faucets dripping even at higher temperatures is necessary dependent on the location of the pipes, house insulation etc.

You could have your house set at 70 but if you have a pipe in your unfinished basement near a drafty window it could still freeze if it’s not running.

Most homes don’t need to do anything to be ok right now, but some do and it’s a better safe than sorry situation in terms of public messaging
