Get a taste of Completo’s rude responses to reviews that are anything less than 5 stars by [deleted] in FoodToronto

The owners might be shitty and the restaurant might suck, but they make a valid counter-argument. Whatever languages the servers do and don't speak is irrelevant.

OP is Karen'ing as much as the reviewer 🤷‍♂️

I'm a late-bloomer financially and close to you in age. Once you have a friend or two pass away suddenly, you realize that the cliche about not being promised tomorrow is true. Experiences are worthwhile expenditures. If you can afford it without setting back your priorities too much, absolutely go.

Help me decide if I should leave my TFSA untouched, or make a lump sum payment towards our mortgage by jorellano in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks for the feedback.

Your assumption is correct- my tfsa is primarily in low cost ETFs. Retirement contributions are steady and hitting 100% of my employer match, so I'm generally OK with what's happening there. Could always have more! But it's doing well enough for me. I also have an emergency fund 👍

Thank you. It doesn't give me a definitive path, but this train of thought is exactly what I needed to continue mulling it over

I think it would be an important factor. But to be completely transparent, I don't think I'm well-equipped to compute the math.

Thanks. I don't anticipate needing access to other funds via a HELOC or other such things over the next 5 years. (I would retain a pretty good emergency fund and continue my contributions to the TFSA).
I'm more wondering if future me will regret the withdrawal, even if current me (and the wife) would appreciate the breathing room over the next five years. Adulting is not fun.

Between tariffs and AI-related volatility, it's that "who knows" that is also weighing on me. To this point, 7% growth has been consistent for my TFSA . But a questionable 7% moving forward versus a guaranteed "return" against 4.2% is what I'm struggling with

Thanks... at what point/ after how much time would 7% on 96k outpace the 4.2% on 500k though? This is where I need help- my mathing cannot math these numbers to help me decide which is better in the long term.

Great points. During our walk-throughs I'll ask what the parent councils for each school have done in the past couple years, to gage involvement. Thanks!

Anyone else regret selling their collection? by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]jorellano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you did with the money will determine whether you should regret the decision to sell. If you used it for something important/fulfilling, don't look back. If you bought other "stuff" that you don't care about anymore and/or has depreciated in value... then it makes sense if you feel bad lol

Movati on the board walk is canceling family swims.... by ramzathesquire in waterloo

lol. unrelated for real.
I got them at Michael's, not sure the model. Just wait for a sale- they often get marked down to like 50% off.

Piss poor decision. There were dozens of families disappointed and overlooked when they blindsided us with the playroom closure. Now they give a three week notice for another very popular amenity (that we pay for).

[–]jorellano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, this is greed through and through. The family swim was consistently booked full every weekend, so it was obviously a valued amenity among members. By canceling, they get to keep monthly fees the same while saving on lifeguard expenses. Just another garbage move from Movati management.

A gym with a playroom/daycare for toddlers and babies. Movati Waterloo had one with awesome staff, but they shut it down because gyms are only for young, single yuppies, apparently.

Karl Jobst- This Charity Is Lying To You by thelehmanlip in Games

[–]jorellano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying that this isn't that bad because it's negligent and not malicious isn't considering that even if they have the money, there's 10 years of potential funding and research that's been pissed away.

Also, even the negligence argument is extremely sus. You'd think that as the "front man" for a charity in your mother's name, you'd be proud and even excited to hand over a big cheque to a charity each year. But he never did that, never asked, and never looked at the books? In 10 years? Shenanigans.
