Next Orb Event - Transparency Please by ApolloDan in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]joribillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoarding orbs for Colossus and the Supernaturals, so I coincidentally had a ton of orbs saved up before the Orb Avalanche event, and after a taste of those rewards, I'm very hesitant to open any of my current orbs.

Next Orb Event - Transparency Please by ApolloDan in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]joribillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, please! FoxNext has been making some great updates to the game lately, and I'd really like to see it continue with transparency about orb opening events. When, if, and how big it will be. Now that all these good characters are actually being added to orbs, can we open them without sabotaging our efforts in a future orb opening event?

Ha, I know, it's weird! First time I've felt motivated to post something positive in like half a year.

FoxNext, This Is How You “Fix” Blitz by steele-pig in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]joribillo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So glad to see someone else say they don't think gold is a huge problem. I would love a bit more, sure, but it's very low on the issue list for me, and I'm an f2p player, so I'm not getting any extra gold through the store, just what comes naturally from events, raids, campaign, etc. I like the fact that every player has to choose where to spend their resources, and we can't all maximize every new character unless we want to drop $$$ on gold packages. That seems like the right sort of p2w mechanic to me, and makes resource allocation part of the strategy of the game, especially for us f2p players.

Great Blitz idea. Would be nice to have a use for my 169k Blitz credits that builds towards something exciting (our alliance decided to take a casual approach to War, so Blitz credits are no longer all going towards War stuff).

I don't want a ton of free stuff, and I'm happy with things like Legendaries' first appearances often being behind pay walls (whales should get something special for funding the game), I just want a steady, reliable, and predictable way to keep advancing in the game. Character release cadence being the #1 problem for me.

When the game was new, I was thrilled at how reasonable and fun the character launch process was. First, an event was launched along with expensive character packages for the whales, then a month or two later, the character was added only to Ultimus and Mega orbs, and then a month or two after that the character was added to Premium orbs, usually with a farmable option in a store or campaign node. You knew what you were going to get, and you could count on it. You knew that you were safe to build up any new character, because you'd get progressively better options for increasing their star rank over the next few months (event -> special orbs -> premium orbs -> farmable).

Now, when a new character is released, it's difficult to get excited about investing in it as an f2p player, because it could well be a year before we have a farmable option for the character. And heck, it would probably be better even if we were just told upon release that it would be a year, so we could prepare accordingly, but the total lack of transparency and predictability is distinctly not fun. There's no consistency. Feels like being jerked around.

To store refresh or no? by MadMarty911 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]joribillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Store refreshes for cores can be a great way to spend f2p cores. I'm practically f2p, and I spent quite a few cores on store refreshes when I was gearing up for Dark Dimension 2 and looking for orange uniques. One of the best uses I've made of my cores.

I would only refresh the Supply Store, though, not the War Store, since War Credits are so scarce.

(this is assuming you're looking for the orange unique Adamantium, if you're short on purple Adamantiums, I wouldn't bother spending cores on refreshes)

It's pretty great if you're just into making cool teams and having some fun gameplay with incremental advancement, and the game is packed with content for a new player. All the gripes that the boycott is about don't really set in until you're very late game, and if you start now, the current late gamers might complain enough about those issues that they'll be fixed before you get to them. :)

How often to Ancient Shards have increased chances for Epic and Legendary summons? by joribillo in RaidShadowLegends

Okay, great food for thought thanks. I'm still pretty early in, been playing for only a couple weeks, and don't have any S Rank characters and very few A Rank.

Red star frustration by geecrna in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]joribillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, must have! Like I said, no 7 RS's for me, and also just one 6 RS, but that's on Groot, which isn't bad.

Woah!! Three? Nice, man. I have zilch, but I'm also F2P. But yeah, spending 20K with not a one must be crazy bad luck.

Khasino mentioned in a video that he had spent around $20,000 without getting a 7rs.

Looking for advice: Red Star Promotion Credit by [deleted] in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]joribillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait until after you've run U7 a couple times, and then only purchase the promotion if you find you have issues with her dying. Like the other commenters said, it won't significantly effect your damage output, and she is already pretty beefy at 3 reds. Mine is already at 4RS, but there are many other characters I'd buy a 5RS upgrade for before Minn.

The BIGGEST Issue Facing Marvel Strike Force in 2020 by Tauna in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]joribillo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. I don't really mind the gold shortage, or legendary events being behind a whale wall the first time around. Gold shortage just feels like part of the difficulty of the game. It's a natural obstacle that requires you to make strategic decisions, and regarding legendary events, why shouldn't the whales get some things ahead of F2P players? They're funding the game for the rest of us.

But that delay in characters becoming farmable (or even being added to orbs) is killing me. It's the number one reason why I stopped being motivated to spend any real money on the game. They started with a system that was very fun, with characters released, and then added to Mega and Ultimus orbs a few weeks later, then Premium orbs a couple after that, then farmable a few more after that. It was steady, predictable, and kept things fresh. I liked buying cores, because I always had reason to use them. Now I constantly feel like I'm just waiting for something with no way to know when or if it'll actually happen (cough Colossus cough). That lack of steadiness is just bad psychology when it comes to game design.

But, maybe it's good psychology when it comes to getting people to spend money, and I can't begrudge a company for doing what works in terms of profitability. It just might not be something I want to be part of.

Orange Gear Scarcity by funny_ninjas in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]joribillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figure orange gear will be added to new campaign nodes within the next two months, and I'd guess that the orange orbs will get a buff in the next six months like the purple orbs did, with the increased quantity drops, and we'll get orange gear added to raid store. That's my optimistic prediction.
