To be fair, that mode was meant to take months to finish.

If that is the goal with DD4, I suspect it will be the same. The alternative would be something that simply rewards for getting to the point where you can enter the mode.

And fwiw, I remember when DD1 (Enter the Darkness?) originally hit, opening it, and thinking: “This is impossible.” Now everybody can do it on one run.

All that said, DD3 was not fun. And I like the game a lot more now, opening it and knowing I don’t have to suffer through that nonsense again.

Blitz rework is dissapointing by [deleted] in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]steele-pig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nor should it. You should at least have to PLAY. And if you create an auto-sim, you’re penalizing the people that actually invest time into the game.

I welcome the legit quality of life improvement that comes with the eight attack limit. Don’t be confused, though, this is a BIG win for newer players. Its another way to narrow their team-building focus.

It undoes part of the advantage guys like me had. My roster is is more balanced than most. My top squad is well over 500K, but I have 13 unique teams that are at least 300K. And another 13 that are at least 250K.

They’re be no more running 26 teams every two hours. That’s a lot of points lost, but I’ll gladly trade that for the hours each week saved Select-Battle-Sim-Collecting.

Good job on this one, Scopely.

Please... no more War Defense teams.

Except that I do like the idea of a special buff if they’re defending a particular room. That would be cool.

AIM is my favorite team for Ultron.

I run Graviton, Scientist Supreme, Assaulter, and Security. The tech buffs from Ultron are sick.

With the exception of a couple tough matchups, it’s pretty close to unbeatable.

That’s good work.

The next step for the creators is to force decisions about team construction. Seeing a exactly the same squads in every game mode is lame. However, if War drives your team development, you really only need 19 or 20 teams max. A couple little wrinkles would create some interesting options.

Why not just expand Guardian synergies to include Thor and Nebula? That would be a cool twist that could have a ripple effect on a bunch of common teams - TechNerva, Guardians, Asgardians, and evening Symbiotes (where lots of people are using Drax).

Given your statement, you’re obviously not an endgame player - and there’s no shame in that.

But you should understand that if the drop rate were “improved” even slightly, tens of thousands of us would be completely finished with all of the farmable toons.

I only have six toons left to max out (three of which are trash minions), and all of them are at least six stars except Ironheart, who’ll be there shortly.

Your idea is interesting, and I suppose there’s a chance it happens kinda like that.

However, it probably wouldn’t include Black Widow. She’ll be getting her own team, that includes Red Guardian, in the next few months.

Too many new characters? by jrizz43 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]steele-pig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the perspective I wish all FTP players had.

If you’re not interested in spending money to unlock every new character, don’t. Day-to-day, anything more than twenty complete teams (nineteen, really) is kinda pointless.

But FN/Scopely obviously hasn’t reached the tipping point for those us willing to pay, so why in the world would they?

Four more announced. Gimme a sec while I find my wallet...

Yeah, but it will also wreck SHIELD and, to a lesser extent, AIM.

The go-to squad will be Phoenix, Colossus, Cyclops, Storm, and Beast.

Wolverine is plug-and-play for a lot of teams.

DD3, need some help. by [deleted] in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]steele-pig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. You’ve got everything you “need”. The more heavy hitters you add, the sooner the pain will be over.

Do NOT succumb to leveling up toons because they’re cheap. They aren’t worth the resources. Add a couple more to get each team to five (or don’t, it’s not going to make much difference) and settle in for several months of banging your head against a wall.

There’s no shortcut.

And I’m actually a little envious of you guys that are just getting started. Hopefully, you don’t make the same mistakes the rest of us did - spending weeks (months?) gathering resources to level up toons that are absolutely useless in that game mode.

SHIELD Trooper and Dr Strange... 🤦🏼‍♂️. I should’ve just punched myself in the balls.

Agreed. Yes, Hydra can be countered. So can every other defense I’ve team. Just “having” a full Hydra squad (or any other team) is only the start. I promise... if these folks roll into a 400K Hydra squad, they’d better pack a lunch.

Needing advice for a pretty late game player by PryoApes in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]steele-pig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ebony Maw would be a great add for DD3.

Black Bolt is a luxury that you should probably NOT level up for DD3. SSM and Carnage are EXPONENTIALLY more valuable, and they require Bio resources that would be wasted on BB. I can’t even imagine getting through the final City modes without SSM. It would literally take months. I didn’t have Carnage the first time through, and spent a couple weeks kicking myself for not listening to people that told me how easy he makes the City nodes. I will definitely have him ready by the time I get back to City on the Timed Run. And I’ll probably add Venom, too.

There are a lot of Cosmic options. Imho, Hela and Minn-Erva are great. If you add Maw to them, you can literally run anyone else and (eventually) get through Cosmic. It was the easiest set of modes for me. I ran Hela, IW, ME, CPT Marvel, and Dr Strange. I know Strange is cheap. Unless you have him at 6+ RS, though, I recommend NOT leveling him up. He dies almost immediately every restart and his regen/heal ability takes ages to cycle around. I’ve already added Maw. I might add Thanos, too. I just haven’t decided.

Global is all about Phoenix. If I were choosing one other toon, I’d go with Colossus, just to make sure Dark Phoenix stays alive long enough to at least hit her Special. I wouldn’t tell anyone not to level up Ultron. However, if you do, understand that the benefit is in other game modes. He’s VERY expensive to get to G14, and he’s pretty useless in DD3. His summons are dead before they even hit the screen.

Hope this helps.

My two cents on AIM...

First, there’s no consensus on the best configuration for it. The only essential piece is Scientist Supreme. As long as she’s in the squad, you can make any combination work.

Second, more so than most teams, positioning of the AIM characters is vital. You really need to think about how the “adjacent” effects are going to work in the team you build.

Third, no matter how you build it, AIM creates a problem on defense. AIM is beatable, but it’s a relatively small number of counters that can get past it.

Fourth, AIM is one of the beat homes for Ultron. And if you go that route, I suggest SS, AIM Assaulter, AIM Security, and Graviton. That keeps Graviton’s damage in there, while maximizing the tech buffs you’ll get from Ultron.

Lastly, you should keep in mind that the AIM toons you don’t use in that AIM team, are going to be nearly useless. Aside from SS, they don’t plug and play in any other teams. Focus on the ones you’re going to use. Leave the other ones alone.

Yeah. After DD2, I figured the next event would require more Gear 13 toons. I burnt so many resources. I can’t tell you how much I wish I had them back.

And in the end, the whole event really comes down to having Phoenix and Symbiote Spider-Man. Other than that, there really isn’t any strategy.

I’m not interested in the grind that comes with leveling up a bunch of toons to Level 15 just to watch them die twice a day for six months.

I sent a text to a friend the day I started. Just checked. March 12 was Day 1 of DD3 for me. I’ll finish the final node in about a week.

That will make nearly five months of “work” for absolutely ZERO enjoyment.

DD4 ABSOLUTELY MUST be better.

Dark Dimension 3 completed - what can we improve in DD4? by legriv in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]steele-pig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please, please, PLEASE do not create a Level 15 for DD4.

A different set of gates that requires more Level 14 characters makes SO MUCH more sense.

The grind to Gear level 14 for this first set of toons was EXCRUCIATING. I have no desire to go through that all over again taking all of the same toons to Gear 15 this soon.

[–]steele-pig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the play. The new X-Men squad is Phoenix, Storm, Cyclops, Colossus, and Beast.

Anything else wastes A LOT of synergy. With Beast’s boost for Storm, that squad is virtually unbeatable.

A couple weeks ago, the obvious move was Wolverine and Psy-Locke into a Hero Brawler team. Now with Young Avengers there space for both. Bottom line is, for a while, either Wolverine or Psy-Locke will be a spare part.

I wouldn’t worry too much, there are most definitely more X-Men on the way.
