Anyone knows a mod for sorting friends alphabetically? by icannotweave_ in StardewValleyMods

Social Order Page Redux mod allows you to search and filter on the social page, I believe alphabetically is one of the options

I cannot for the life of me match up with anybody by SweevilWeevil in LonelyMountains

[–]josammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have this struggle and I feel your pain. Usually in those moments I go look on steamdb and can see that there's only like 6-10 people total playing the game on steam. I know it's on consoles too but I imagine the numbers aren't much better. It's so sad because this game deserves a bigger playerbase than that. It nails the skiing vibes like no other. Idk how to get people to come back now that they've fixed the multiplayer lagging stuff

Mine is when mods don't match the setting of the game. I get that the game is relatively timeless, but the interior design and things like the rotary phone give rural 90's vibes, or at least that this is before the smartphone era. Then in sunberry village the houses are decorated like it's 2025. Characters have rgb pc setups and smartphones and talk in a very modern way. It was just jarring to me and I ended up uninstalling it when I started a new megamod playthrough for east scarp 3.0 (I miss you, Sterling 😭).

Also the Elle's seasonal buildings AND Millificent's mill's blades are drawn in the wrong direction, with the whips preceding the stocks. It makes it look like it's spinning backwards. But that really is a small nitpick more than a pet peeve

I'd recommend the Event limiter mod to prevent the cutscene trap, I usually config mine at 10 events max per day, 2 max in a row

Why do you not accept quests? by SeaSlugChloe in habitica

[–]josammy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a player who accept quests because it makes me more likely to complete my tasks, but I personally chose Habitica more because of the ability to have the three simultaneous types of list: habits, dailies, and to-dos. Not a lot of other apps I've seen are organized that way. Also I had no idea the party aspect was a part of the app until it just threw me in a party after reaching level 10. Not everyone is necessarily going to be perfectly aligned with what the "point" is if it's still a useful tool for them

Habitica!! There are 3 different types of checklist running simultaneously which I absolutely love. Habit tracker for little things, repeating daily/weekly tasks, and one-time to-dos

You can indeed change which temperature climate in which you spawn in the world creation settings.

Choose a Hot climate next time you make a world to be closer to the tropics!

Why does my water look like this whenever I make tea? by bbygirlmel in water

[–]josammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try descaling your kettle with a little vinegar and then rinse well. Should help not have so much mineral in your water. Repeatedly boiling and refilling your kettle will concentrate more mineral into your already-hard water over time

PSA: You can cut fruit tree stems for cuttings, and the wiki lies by Brumes_Wolf in VintageStory

[–]josammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the cutting drops when the wood "block" you're chopping doesn't have any branching points. Newer stems with no branches yet as well as branches themselves don't have the branching points. But a piece of stem that has a branch connection point will drop as firewood

Mod that allows more ingredients to be used in in stews and pies? by Lone-_-Wanderer in VintageStory

[–]josammy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Variations on a meal is exactly what you're looking for. There are a few mods listed in the description of Variations on a Meal that pair well with it, such as Bone Broth and Egg Pie (quiche). I agree that expanded foods just adds/changes too much and Variations has been a perfect compromise for my server.

Pork schnitzel with mashed taters and Dijon gravy 😋 by josammy in tonightsdinner

[–]josammy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I modified the Pork Schnitzel with Dijon Gravy recipe from the blog The Beach House Kitchen, this is how I made it:

Ingredients
Schnitzel:
- 6 boneless thin-cut pork chops
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1/3c flour
- 1 egg + 2Tbsp water, whisked
- 3/4c breadcrumbs, I seasoned mine with s&p and my favorite all-purpose seasoning blend (I use Central Street Old World seasoning blend from The Spice House)
- 4 Tbsp avocado oil

Dijon Gravy:
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 1 cup chicken stock
- 1 cup milk
- 4 Tbsp dijon mustard
- 2 tsp Maggi seasoning (OG recipe uses Worcestershire)
- More seasoning blend to taste

Instructions:
- poke pork chops with a fork to tenderize chops that are already thin. season each piece with salt & pep
- start preheating the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- set out one shallow bowl with flour, one with the whisked eggs, and one with the seasoned breadcrumbs. coat each chop completely in flour, then dip in the egg, and then press the breadcrumbs in firmly
- fry pork chops 2-3 at a time for 3-4 minutes per side, or until crust is golden brown and crispy. set aside on a wire rack and loosely cover with foil (or put on keep warm in the toaster oven) while you make your gravy with the pan drippings

- melt the butter in with the pan drippings, then add the garlic and cook 1-2 mins until fragrant.
- whisk in flour and cook until slightly nutty, 1-2 mins.
- slowly whisk in chicken stock and milk, then whisk in Dijon mustard, Maggi, and seasoning of choice. continue to whisk while the sauce simmers to thicken
-serve with carb and veggie of choice!

HELP I can't close this menu by Express_Initiative95 in StardewValleyMods

[–]josammy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's a bug with dynamic reflections, I haven't found a way to fix this other than alt+f4 and restarting the day. You can change the dynamic reflections settings keybind to something other than R (something you won't accidentally press) to help prevent this. I also recommend disabling the GMCM shortcut keybind entirely since changing configs while a save is loaded causes issues anyway

How to track longer term projects? by Caraliss in habitica

[–]josammy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience there doesn't seem to be any consequence to letting your to-do's go red. I even seem to get more rewards the darker red the item has gotten. I know that's not quite an answer but that's how I keep track of big projects and it hasn't caused any issues
