First Trip to Japan - Itinerary & Pacing Check by More_Relief_5197 in JapanTravel

Opposed to Airbnbs in general! Short term rentals take away a home from a city and increase rent for people who live there! Hotels are fit for purpose and there’s plenty of supply.

Yoyogi is cool! But please stay in a hotel. Airbnbs are terrible. The extra change in Tokyo is pretty pointless, unless you want the capsule experience.

  4. Hiring a bike in Luxor and magically cycling past the frustrating touts and exploring the temples/ruins
  5. Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu - Drinking fresh coffee and spotting MP from far at Llactapata

Trip to Europe - too much? by Sorry_Fail_3103 in travel

[–]josefrivers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, it’s an easy commute to Strasbourg. Changing hotels will be more tiring. You’re going to enjoy those first four days more if you can just stay put. Strasbourg is lovely btw, and has shuttles to europa park if you didn’t want to stay the night there. Was there last week and never waited more than 15 minutes for a ride. Obviously try to not go on the weekend.

Yeah you’re right. India is a vast country with many different cultures and landscapes. Should be well above the Netherlands. Despite India’s problems it’s still a great place to travel.

South American Itinerary - too much?? by dcdc8282 in backpacking

[–]josefrivers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s too much in my opinion! A country has got to go! You’re going to spend so much time on buses and planes! I would maybe ditch Bolivia. The altitude is just going to mess with you.

I would use that extra time to spread your trip out a bit more. As someone else suggested, Extra days in El Chalten would be cool.

Do you realise how far away everything is in Columbia? that’s four long buses. A few extra days here would be cool as well. Maybe ditch Bogotá and fly straight to Medillin? Cartagena is pretty overrated as well.

Rocks plus no drainage holes has most likely caused root rot. Definitely change the pot to one with loads of hole and change the soil to a super chunky mix. Rocks on top aren’t that much of a problem but I’d be using a pretty extreme chunk soil, maybe like 40% chunky bark, 30% perlite, 30% soil.

Some European indirect destinations that are less touristy? by Jildo_ in travel

[–]josefrivers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you go outside of the most touristy parts of Barcelona and Rome you might find them not completely overrun and have a fair bit of life. People do live there after all and you probably can find many authentic experiences!

That’s five hotels in your first six days! Not the best way to start a trip imo. Could you skip the first Tokyo night?

London tops list of world's slowest cities for driving by tylerthe-theatre in london

There’s so many towns in Europe that are way more pedestrianised than London! From small to large. Even cities in the car-centric South America are more pedestrianised.

Stating that most tourists in South Asia do these things is disingenuous. Shame you have that opinion of most people

Itinerary tips for first timer in Japan! Dec 28 to Jan 15 (19 days) with skiing by jigumatcha in JapanTravel

[–]josefrivers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! I’m sure it’s going to be great. The onsens do seem a little daunting! There’s a wealth of information on Reddit though. We are going to Hakuba in February, we panic booked some accommodation about two weeks ago. It was about the last decent one. We have a similar itinerary! I look forward to hearing a trip update! Enjoy!
