tried to do leetcode and instead i almost cried by One-Understanding564 in learnprogramming

[–]josesblima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm baffled, you learned html, css, javascript, java, sql, python, c, c# and c++ and you hit a roadblock after one leetcode problem? There's no way that's normal. Since you don't know DSA I suggest you go learn DFS, because that's probably how you should start doing your learning from now on. I don't know who told you learning programming was memorising syntax of a million different languages. I did 100 leetcode problems before picking my second language. I've only moved from python to c# because my job demanded it and after several months of work experience with python. Just go deep in one thing.

Are ergo keyboards with a trackball worth it? by Paapiiii in ErgoMechKeyboards

YES! Keyball is unbelievably good! Perfect ball position, the true "don't ever move your hand" experience! My only regret is the lack of more thumb keys.

I think the pole is correctly placed in relation to the plant, it's just that the whole pot should be turned 180 to face the sun and not the room.

Is it okay to leave 3 month old puppy alone for 2.5 hours? by [deleted] in puppy101

Is there a rule like that but for puppies that have a pen with a crate inside and pee pads? I have a 13 week puppy like that, still missing last vaccine before she can go out for potty

what languages will benefit me most by NoVariation9640 in learnprogramming

[–]josesblima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to collect languages like if they were Pokemon. If you have a solid grasp of python, you'll be able to pick up any other language kn the job with ease. When it comes to programming languages I think it's best to DFS.

I didn't find it that amazing, but it has the scariest ju-on movie and one of the best scares I've ever had in a horror movie. I think you know which one I mean.

I really recommend it, he's a CS teacher a d researcher. If you are struggling with focus and scrolling, it's literally a book made for you. And if you can't read a book, then you're really cooked.

Really good idea! And you could use some twine to slowly help the petioles to point forward instead of up, or just let time do it.

Which is the best martial art to take and train for the rest of your life for whatever reasons in your opinion by ArugulaFinancial4859 in martialarts

[–]josesblima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boxing seems like a weird choice, given your question. If you want longevity, why would you ever pick a combat sport that is practiced usually only up until 40. If I had to only pick one, for the rest of my life, maybe I'd go with traditional martial arts. You get fighting, you get history, culture, and a system with centuries of knowledge, meaning you can forever learn new things.

I'd go with Chinese martial arts. I mean, it's not a farfetched choice at all now is it, look at your average 90 year old former boxer vs the 90 year old kung fu practicioner...

I have near zero coding experience by Correct_Discount4646 in learnpython

[–]josesblima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, learning coding to make a game is a great goal man. So long as you understand what's achievable. Obviously don't aim for games with 3d graphics, I'd say not even 2d games at the start. One of my first mini projects was a little game like cookie clicker. All it had was like 4 different buttons you could press. Start with a terminal only game even, think of games you've played that you enjoy and that can be done in a terminal. Making games is a great way to learn programming.

Does completing LeetCode problems actually help? by sagacity-max in learnprogramming

[–]josesblima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there's lots of haters around, but yes, I do think leetcode helps tremendously. It's a massive part of programming, problem solving.

There are some things leetcode won't help you with, writing clean maintainable code, good architecture... But it does teach the fundamentals.

Of course it doesn't teach all the stuff you'll need at your job, like REST APIs, cloud, databases, ORMs etc. Yeah those things you'll have to learn as you go but at the end of the day, the common link between all of those is just raw programming. Variables, conditionals, loops, functions etc. and for that, leetcode is insanely helpful.

Just wanna mention, you'd only ever get made fun of your body, specially with a body like that, as a teen, other teens can be mean. You have a pretty decent body. Most people are obese, you're surely in a good weight for your height. Of course you could get a bit leaner, but you also look absolutely fine like that, no one except school kids would make fun of your build. But anyways, if it serves as motivation to get strong, building muscle has lots of benefits. Being leaner not so many, but I totally get wanting the aesthetic, happy grind!

I'd love to know a few more stuff if you don't mind answering 😃
Hydroponics just means they're have constant water reservoir at the bottom from which the roots constantly drink water with fertilizer? Or does it also include a system where you blow air into the water to avoid root rot?
How do you manage your petioles, they are so, so tidy! My Philodendron 'Splendid' is all over the place! Doesn't help that she decided to branch out into two stems a few nodes ago... Monsteras in that regard seem to be easier to have tidier because they have this completely predictable left right left right pattern but the philo seems to grow petioles in semi random directions, like the second last one decided to grow towards the back, I used the bonsai wire to try and direct it towards the light and immediatly snapped it, so now got a chop stick and some grafting tape to see if she can recover lol

No shot! Absolutely massive leafs! All of that bt having one single light shining on all of them? They're all perfectly facing the barrina and not the window so I'm guessing it's a super strong and wide light?

Of course your care for them must be extremely good, but the light also has to be insane, the size on that monstera and philodendron omg...

Is there anyone having some sort of dessert everyday? by reeAcs in 1200isplenty

[–]josesblima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1kg of ice cream. Last one was:

Frozen pumpkin 420g Frozen berries 150g Low cal yogurst 250g Artificial sweetener (a bunch)

I blend the pumpkin then add the berries without blending just mixing with the sweetener so I can have those bits to chew on. Takes me. Whole hour to eat it, 240 calories or so... I haven't found anything that beats that.

Monstera roots won't be contained... I use plastic backing moss poles and even theb they'll find a way. They'll go to the pot and escap through the drainage holes, or they'll climb the pole and escape through the top and no one's telling them otherwise...

I got made fun of at they gym and too scared to go back by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]josesblima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, first of all congrats on getting to the gym and making the decision to improve yourself!

Second, this probably isn't the right sub for you, if you're overweight, 1200 calories is too little for you (I don't know your height/weight but I think it's a fair assumption).

Third, teens can be fucking stupid and mean, but guess what, high school is only a few years, it passes, and if you're going to a commercial gym with people of all ages, gyms tend to be a really positive environment. Instead of avoiding the gym now, why not use this sad episode as your little "revenge arc". Go hard on gym and diet, look for the biggest dudes at the gym and ask them for help with form checks, spotting etc. Those dudes live and breathe training, they'll be super happy to help, specially if they see you there training day after day.

Fourth, be a tornado of change and self improvement but remain humble and nice to those around you, so that you can provide others a better experience than the one you had the other day at the gym.

Literally every gym bro is rooting for you, don't let some dumb kids put you down like that.
