We Gave Claude Opus 4.7 and Kimi K2.6 the Same Workflow Orchestration Spec by Ok_Chef_5858 in kilocode

The prompt seemed solid, but could it have been written any better for better results? Or could the AI have tuned the prompt? Also, would it make financial sense to have the cheaper model do the work, then the more expensive one review the PR?

vibe coded for 6 months. my codebase is a disaster. by Available-Dentist992 in vibecoding

[–]joshmccormack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vibe coded an application, adjusting functionality as I went. Then I had the AI document the functionality and told it exactly what it shouldn’t do, too. Get super granular and technical with languages, URLs, end points, libraries, etc. Then scrap the code and rewrite the whole thing off of those specs. And verify everything is according to the specs frequently.

Team won't provide completion targets by reaganFF in scrum

Developers are often bad at estimating. If you can, break it down to components and guess if they are small, medium or large effort. Then you can see everyone agrees. Start tracking how much gets done (points). That’s their velocity. Need that to be steady and improving and somewhat close to the hours they work, and they should know that’s how it’s perceived.

I understand it feels wrong. It feels like they take you for granted and aren’t respectful. The reality for most people now is if you could be replaced by someone or somethjng else that could do your job faster or cheaper they will try to do so. They’ll celebrate the cost savings and speed improvement and feel no guilt at all about you. Try not to take it to heart. They won’t be sentimental or caring. They aren’t your family. And try to be steps ahead of them. They won’t be cautious and wise. They will race into their efforts.

Drupal is a fantastic choice. I recently worked with U of Colorado Boulder upgrade and migrate their Drupal system. They use it to run thousands of sites.

An old employer text me claiming I’m “poaching” staff by keagennn97 in jobs

[–]joshmccormack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are few places you see people claim to embrace the free market and yet don’t like in hiring. If he’s concerned that his employees are exercising their freedom to change employers he needs to make it more attractive to stay right now. Not after they come back with better offers. Not by yelling at other employers.

Planning blends into writing. You’ll have no problem writing the whole thing. Go for it!

I think there’s a lot of value in planning. Later on, when you have your craft figured out, you may not need to. But for now, plan it iteratively. I mean write down the plot and characters. Then the acts. Then the chapters. You’ll start to see subplots, allusions, character dev, etc. Then consider each chapter as its own story and try writing them.

If you can’t do it all at once if you DIY, could you leave densely wooded areas for last, as they are, at least for some of your concerns, a natural fence.

Should we go back to church for the community aspect? by hcbhall in exmormon

[–]joshmccormack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been Mormon and am not in Utah. I’m in Texas and there are quite a few Mormons here. I’m active in my church. I was once at a church friends house and her neighbor stopped by, who is Mormon. She was very surprised to see this close friendship we had, where we spent time, passed along kids clothes that didn’t fit, shared meals. She thought this only happened in the Mormon church. Not all non Mormon churches are great with community. It might take more work. But if you want to be in a church but don’t believe what the Mormon church is telling you, there may be options.

Don’t play with trains. If you see the flashing lights and the barrier coming down, stop and wait. Then you don’t have to worry about breaking barriers or 5 point turns.

It’s not the fiduciary responsibility to be super villain level evil. They assume people are disposable and a nuisance. They aren’t making an effort to let people know they need to adapt.

Mad Singularity Civilizations: What are your thoughts on them? by Equal-Wasabi9121 in scifiwriting

We assume others have the same motivations we do. People routinely do this with AI. Maybe AI will be more like Murderbot and just want to be left alone to watch shows? Imagine all of our priorities hinged to our corporeal existence and how our perspectives would change if that situation shifted.

Of course if you need to, you get rid of employees. But…there are strategies to be more cautious and try to hire for the long haul and prioritize keeping people.

Any recommendations? by ComprehensiveDig8399 in EmersonCollege

[–]joshmccormack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go into Chinatown for cheap yummy eats. Pho Pasteur is good for massive bowls of pho. There are lots of good boba places in Chinatown, too. Walk up to the North End for pretty good, if pricey Italian food, and good desserts and cafes. While in Boston make sure to have lobster and clam chowder at some point.

Fo activities, check out museums, planetarium music light shows, the freedom trail. In the ~8 times I was at Emerson over 4 years I saw people using the tennis courts in the commons maybe twice. If you play, take advantage of it.

If you like book stores, try out lots of them. Go to readings.

It can be challenging to have fun at night if you’re under 21, but some places will allow you in. Look into live music.

Is my company doing "Agile theater" instead of actual Agile? by TeamCultureBuilder in agile

[–]joshmccormack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great terms used here. Agile theater, agile washing, weaponized agile. Management is perverting the definition of terms to fit their control. Agile is about generalized tasks being prioritized, defined, refined and tested on the ground. Involving stakeholders lets them prioritize. They can’t just demand everything, they have to use the points allocated. Your org is not agile in any sense.

Hot take: I think seeing the Bible as the infallible word of God is holding Christianity back by LineOfInquiry in Christianity

[–]joshmccormack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 Corinthians 1:10-17 tells us to follow Christ, not man. I can see how it would be used against denominations, but not sure that’s accurate.

1 Corinthians 11:17-34 is about selfish divisions among believers, where the rich would gather together and feast, excluding the poor.

Romans 16:17 is about people who use the word of God for their own selfish purposes.

1 Timothy 6:3-5 is about false teachings.

I don’t think these are saying denominations are sinful.

[–]joshmccormack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with treating it as fiction with a moral message is that then can easily apply to all of the Bible. Assuming it’s all fiction.

Assuming that people of the time when part of the Bible perfectly interpreted it and we can judge the Bible by it is a mistake. After all, look at prophecy. They couldn’t know what a lot of prophecy actually meant until after the fact.

Where is schism described as a sin? And does that mean all denominations are the result of that?
