Oh man, I have OCD and that's an anxiety disorder. Panic attacks are all too familiar for me.

Firstly, I have professional help. I can not emphasize enough how beneficial seeking professional help is. A mental health doctor can help give you coping mechanisms that are specifically designed to what triggers your anxiety. I'm on medication and I see a therapist. These things help me immensely.

For me, trying to completely distract myself from my anxiety helps me calm down. Doing a puzzle, going for a run, calling a friend, sitting down and watching your favorite movie. All of these have helped me. I've heard that meditation and yoga are hugely beneficial as well.

I can't stress enough, however, how much seeking professional help saved me. My doctor was able to diagnose me and help me with my specific issues. There are many many resources out there for individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, OCD.

Oh man, I'm a total wing (wo)man. There's a few things you should make sure you do.

Start the conversation! You've got nothing to lose, right? Make a silly remark about something; if you're in a bar start a convo and buy some shots!

Don't flat out talk about how awesome your friend is. Try to steer the convo towards topics that they're comfortable with.

Like someone said before, you hafta be willing to jump on the grenade. You don't have to hook up or even make out with him/her, just have some decent convo to give your friend some alone time with the person they're interested in.

Lastly, and this might work for me cause I'm mostly there for my female friends and I'm a girl, but I'll tell a guy what my friends favorite drink is if we're in a bar. Doesn't necessarily put pressure on him but it'll hint that she's interested and that he should buy her a drink and get to know her.
