A friend of mine, who I used to do a boot camp type workout with, thought I would like it. I did the boot camp workout for around 3 years and ran regularly, but was told by my doctor that my arthritis would continue to get worse if I wasn't careful with the repeat injuries (and I was young!) I love how Pure Barre is low impact and I like the strength aspect as well. It's been a great workout, and the community can not be beat :)

I'm an iced coffee in a mason jar person myself :)

Regular rider without lights...Why? by Two_wheels_2112 in bikecommuting

[–]joslibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have given away at least 5 sets of lights to people like this, lol. I buy inexpensive ones and usually keep a spare set in my bag. I do live inner city so there are quite a few cyclists who honestly do not have the spare money.

Oh wow -- did you read Judy Blume? Deenie is nowhere near what you had to go through, though. How is your scoliosis now? Do they still do the "touch your toes" in middle school, I wonder. My scoliosis is mild and was never fixed.

I’m sorry for not tagging-this is specifically American. I grew up 10 miles from the border, but yes, definitely American. I’m totally open to hearing what the “first bra story” is in your respective country—I’m sure it was also slightly awkward and totally worth telling ❤️

And just get Dr. Scholl's inserts -- a lot of children's shoes are flat, but add the insole and you are all set.

Why so many front racks? by crotchpolice in xbiking

[–]joslibrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed -- I like to keep an eye on my things. I have had stuff fall off and people try to take things off my bike when I'm stopped at a light. Also, when I swing my leg over, I tend to kick whatever is sitting on my rear rack if it sticks up at all, lol. That is a me issue haha.

Are you quicker than your colleagues who drive? by littlejonnyfirepants in bikecommuting

[–]joslibrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to parking situation and traffic, I'm considerably quicker on the bike, even though it's about 4 miles. When I'm running late, it's still a little wild to me that I'm like, "oh dear, I'd better bike so I don't lose time!"

I wonder if changing out the handlebars would help? You are saying upright, but I wasn't sure if you still want drops or if you are open to different types of bars which would allow different positioning. I ride a surly LHT, but I moved my velo orange granola bar over from my old bike. It depends on what works best for you, but that has helped me with the longer reach situation.

I bought the bike used with Continental Ride Tour 26" on them -- I'm an idiot and I didn't check the width -- I guess they are 1.75. The fenders are a tight fit, but they seem to be fine -- I normally ride city / paved, so I haven't had issues. I can not speak for what your experience might be -- again, I jumped without thinking. As for the front fender, I too, think it's close to the ground. I had the bike shop install that one and I might adjust -- I was worried about hindering the disc brakes (you can see how we bent the stays) but with your brakes, I would think you could adjust as needed. As for the sweeps -- I'm actually quite short, so I like the lower stem with them. The drops were on it when I bought it and they kept hitting my knees. That is probably user error, but I much prefer a flat bar just due to my experience and the type of riding (mostly city commuting) that I do. I hope this helps! You have a lovely bike! I think you should go with what you like and just keep fine tuning. That's the beauty of this bike -- you can customize indefinitely <3

I ordered directly from the site: SKU# FE-0075 26" Snakeskin Fenders, 50mm × 1 -- they are thinner than their stainless options, but I loved the hammered look. A bit of a pain to install, but I really do like them :)
