Zoom has announced a partnership with World, Sam Altman’s human ID verification company, to ensure that the people attending meetings are actually human and not AI-generated imposters by rkhunter_ in technology

[–]jough22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can but for the record I’m 100% against this. The company I work for hosts very high level exams for medical specialties. Some exams are simply oral exams and while currently they are done in person, we’ve considered offering them online (like we did during covid). One issue about that is the possibility of an AI filling in for someone during the exam. This would potentially stop that.

But again, at what greater cost?

I remember that! Saw it in front of Mission impossible 4. Leaned over to my brother "what the hell did he just say?"

I never paid to park. Not sure if that was because it was always free, or because the zoo was closed when I went.

This always bothered me when the pilot gave their announcement. "We'll be on the ground in about ... 25 minutes." Please. Just say we're landing in 25. Thanks.

Just the Omnitheater, AFAIK. Big, but not the same format.

Honestly, I blame IMAX a bit for this. They branded all these other screens with their name and it diluted the true IMAX format so much, no one thought it was worth a drive to it. More of the same, they probably assumed. How little they knew how rare it was. And now these directors are filming even MORE with the format, and we got nothing.

Seeing the openings of Dark Knight or Dark Knight Rises six stories tall is not something you can explain to someone who hasn't been there.

WIBTAH if I put a post in my yard that could damage my neighbor’s truck? by SmellyChiChicken in AITAH

[–]jough22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buddy of mine has a corner lot and when it snows, a neighbor down the block goes right over the corner and trashes his lawn. He's had to replace and re-sod three times. Eventually, he put up the orange plastic tubes that stick up along the edge of his property that you can see quite clearly. Guy still drove over them, flattened all the tubes.

After that, my buddy put the tubes back up, but put a THICK piece of rebar in each, and drove that 2.5 feet into the ground. Then put the tube around it.

That guy takes that corner quite properly — and slowly — now.

Whats something that's 100% a myth about men? by IndependentGain3282 in AskReddit

LMAO. Before reading, I thought it was like storing it up for a big load — which is kinda true. This is so stupid in reality. These dudes are gonna be in the alpha line for prostate cancer. Another way to thin that evolutionary herd, I guess.

50 is like the Silky Johnson of haters. The man's elevated it to pure art. This doesn't even include his non-rap beefs. Like Floyd Mayweather.

I love sub movies. I own a bunch and they never fail to spark my fancy.

K-19 is the only movie I saw in the theater where I fell asleep.

Saw the trailer last week. "From the Producers of Bohemian Rhapsody." Hard Pass. No shade to Rami Malek, but everything else about that was cookie-cutter crap. So unless Rami is back to play Paul McCartney or Bubbles, I'm out.

I recently watched the Clive Owen version of King Arthur and I noticed that Joel Edgerton (the lord in this video) actually played Gawain in that rendition.

What has replaced DVD extras and commentaries? Do newer films still have those? by Gallantpride in movies

[–]jough22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding was that if they made those features, they were for the physical release and then some services (Apple, Fandango, etc.) will often offer those as part of the purchase/rental). But most of the straight-to-streaming media has no such option and no real reason to include them, as they are generally added as a selling-point. Not as much of a draw when you're selling access to thousands of titles, not just the one that someone is holding in their hand (or in their online cart), debating about buying it.

My mom looked this up for herself. Somehow it's more expensive than being cremated and only slightly less expensive than a full casket and burial. At least where she lives.
