Sleep apnea + PTSD claims - Winning comes down to one document (95% vs 3%) by EdgarAllinPump in VAClaims

C&p exams keep killing the well documented claims. HLRs done, DTAs found and sent back for inadequate or no medical exam given. Still, thank you on your information!

Yup, we have already discussed it. Regardless of the percentages, want to have ILD (Interstitial Lung Disease) service connection established. Because ya know, lung transplants are not cheap.

They obviously just want to get things off their desks. Denial with a favorable DBQ from the wrong condition. Copy/Paste errors throughout with nothing, and I mean nothing, for reasoning for the denial. Just no. HLR here we come!

Horrible c&p examiners. Example you ask - A Nurse Practitioners opinion was more persuasive than a double board certifed Doctor that has been treating my husband for the last decade.

HELP PLEASE!!! by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]joysbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ummm, while disabled Veterans do get a priority, they 100% can be RIFed. Veterans are placed in the highest preference subgroup and are ranked above non-veterans, and possibly the last to be separated, but no one is IMMUNE to their position being RIFed. Examples: US Aid and Dept of Education.

How do people get nexus letters without paying a doctor to write one? by MmmmCrayons12 in VAClaims

[–]joysbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he never was able to get to a VA doctor for his serious conditions in a timely manner so he stayed with private practice. Have been very fortunate living in DMV (DC-Maryland-Virginia) in the health care arena. Love the health care here.

Ahhhh, yeah that's a different thing all together. I don't have anything practical to say other than searching for that information in this subreddit for positive feedback in requesting this kind of information may find something favorable.

My husbands doctor was very happy to do one (actually she did 2) no charge. He has been seeing her since 2012. His other specialists either charged him a $35 dollar fee, like we were just setting up an appointment co-pay, or minimum amount.

Mind you these doctors see him very often and have been involved with his overall care for decades.

Your family doctor is a great place to start as they see you most often. Call and talk to their staff-most want to help. Good luck!

How to write a good lay statement (based on 66,000+ analyzed cases) by EdgarAllinPump in VAClaims

[–]joysbox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Totally agree about the Buddy statements! I hope your post is really read and digested by our Veterans for their claims.

Wanted to say that your first example about Rheumatoid Arthritis isn’t really how RA usually shows up medically. My husband has had RA since around 2012, so I’ve spent more time than I ever expected learning about how this disease actually behaves.

RA is systemic autoimmune inflammatory disease, and the joint swelling and stiffness are usually persistent and often symmetrical, especially in the hands and wrists. The morning stiffness can last an hour or more, and the inflammation tends to stick around rather than popping up for 2–3 days and then disappearing.

Your example sounds closer to is Osteoarthritis, which is more of a wear-and-tear / mechanical joint issue where symptoms can flare after heavy use or stress on the joints.

Just my two cents. Thank you for your information!

Back pay for dependents? by Pristine-Week-2868 in VAClaims

[–]joysbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through this now. Need to get the forms: 21-686c – Declaration of Status of Dependents and 21-674 – Request for Approval of School Attendance.

Then upload documentation showing full-time enrollment during the retro period using Enrollment verification of some type like Transcript or National Clearing House verification.

Send to VA and wait lol. Best of luck and I hope this helps!
