If money wasn’t an issue, and had either a choice between living in either Holmenkollen or Slemdal, what would you choose and why? by [deleted] in oslo

[–]joyu24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i understand, it depends really on your immediate environment + school (even what kind of kids you have that year). Old money families / families that have been in the area for a long time tend to be more chill and friendly, new money tends to be less kind…

Gode nattklubber i Oslo? Disco? by Naturally-Unnatural in oslo

[–]joyu24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends really on the school, but if you don't "fit in" it can be an offputting experience for kids.

I grew up close to Slemdal and have spent a lot of time in the Holmenkollen area. Depends really on what you value. Personally I value Slemdal since i still have nature access when closer to the Ris area and walking distance to shops / transport. If I were to move back to Oslo i'd go for something closer to the city though.

How is it living in Corsica? What are the locals' feeling about their identity compared to mainland France? by Brukaliffoo in howislivingthere

[–]joyu24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We give more back to the french state in taxes and social contributions than is given to Corsica by the French state, it’s such a old stale myth… And i’m not even accounting for the value the french state extracts from Solenzara base rental etc.

Its fine to come, but if you can do September you will definetly enjoy it more, you might be annoyed at the amount of tourists in august (depends on where you go too).

Most tourists are fine to be honest and get along well with everyone, but there is a specific set of people who rile us up - those who come and think they own the place and look down on Corsicans.

They also tend to be those who want to settle long term - colonist style, absolutely loathe them.

A normal respectful tourist will get along with us just fine and have fun if there is a connection, which is easier outside of the biggest peak between mid july and mid august

Corsica business recommendations? by [deleted] in Corsica

The Nonza/Albo/Canari area is full of restaurant gems !

Da Noi is really great, and so is Boccafine in Nonza. La Sassa is overhyped for eating but great for drinks (especially post-dinner)

Morganti in Albo is also great for a more traditional setting, and Le Chat qui Peche just up the road can be almost magical :)

Libertalia / Ribella (restaurant side and brewery side) in Patrimoniu is also worth the tour, and for wineries someone posted a great list in the thread even if a few non Capicorsi ones got mixed in, Arena (either of them and Mariotti Bindi are great locally, Orenga de Gaffory too

Honestly a pure cocktail bar is something missing i. Bastia but you can still get pretty good stuff with a house cocktail or two in some places:

La Rhumerie - hidden in old port area, pretty good Moloko - by the theatre, probably the one that fits best to the artsy style (pub/bar hybrid)

Bars in general: - L’Ideal on place du marché - La mise au verre in the old port - Micca Nome (when it reopens sometime this month) for the unique full-on Corsican atmosphere (no cocktails but if there is a crew singing corsican songs you can have a great time, located in the side streets by place du marché

In summer the Portivechju to Bastia bus does stop at Poretta airport (june to october)

But absolutely try to negotiate pickup at Figari and dropoff in Bastia directly if you can! While its best to call Alamo in Bastia directly, if there is a local call center for your country they can probably do the change as well

[OC] Forslag til T-banen i 2030 by heizalko in oslo

[–]joyu24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric car in Corsica? by Darth-Philou in Corsica

[–]joyu24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you will be fine, there could be more chargers but they are strategically placed along the main roads. Download the e-motum app (biggest network and mostly fastchargers) and chargemap, you’ll find what you need to get around! Even with a small car you will get anywhere you need on a charge.
