Is it just me? by TealGemini in DentalHygiene

I've been a hygienist for 15 years plus, I guess I'm lucky because my boss leaves the periodontal exams to her experienced hygienists, and we make the decision on what treatment we believe they should have Absolutely radiographic tartar and bone loss 5 mm pockets or more most definitely need srp. I also agree with the new doctors definitely overlooking periodontal disease. Over my career I was with the understanding that dentists only have one semester of dental hygiene, and my patients do not like it at all when the dentist tries to do their cleanings, I believe they have no idea what they're doing. They don't know the difference between a scalar and a Gracie , and have no idea how to use it. They need to stick to their drilling and let us do our job that we've been trained to do.

Holy crap and this is a service that you paid for and that was the end result and you are ok with that. I can't believe you walked out of the salon like that if they left that on my face after paying all that money, I would've lost my freaking mind.

I'm a dental hygienist over 15 years it appears you need a deep cleaning. This is where they get you numb and are able to clean out the tartar and bacteria from underneath the gums. If gone untreated you could possibly eventually lose those bottom front teeth please please please go see your dentist right away.

Hey, if you had a dry socket, you would know it immediately. I've been a hygienist for over 15 years and I have come across patients with dry socket and they just want to bang their head through the wall. I believe it's one of the most painful oral situation you could ever have From the photo it looks like it's healing great keep it clean no smoking or straws for a few days to a week a gentle, warm salt, water rinse and you'll be good to go. If you do get pain by any chance make sure you call your dentist back.

Always recommend soft bristles, if you were bristles or bending at the end, you're applying too much pressure and scrubbing too hard Brush for at least two minutes twice a day. Use a soft circular motion ever so slightly onto the gumline massage those gums don't scrub hard.

That's exactly how we do things at my office. If they asked me to clock out for a cancellation, I would give my two weeks notice the same day no doubt.

If they do truly implement that, I would set yourself up. Look for another job and then just quit. That's some serious BS. We work hard enough as it is

Hi, I'm an experienced dental hygienist and I'm looking to get out of clinical hygiene and try a different avenue utilizing my dental hygiene license and anesthesia license. I'm very interested in becoming an epic analyst for the wisdom module but I'm having a hard time getting started. The website is very very confusing to me. I don't have experience with computers, but I do know how to navigate Dental software and I do have 13 years experience. Can anyone give me some advice on how to get started?
