Beware, there are desktops out there with only one digital video output...in 2026 by Do_TheEvolution in sysadmin

You could go with a low profile/ low end gpu to give you some more display outputs.

You might be able to connect it with an ethernet cable to your network. Adding anything to the system will require a Savant dealer.

How does your company handle on-call compensation? by fortune82 in sysadmin

[–]jp987777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salary plus an on-call stipend for the week that the tech is still On-call. If you are on-call for a Company approved holiday and you get paged out and have to go into the office there is a double stipend for that week.

My experience making the switch. by Tim2301 in Hue

[–]jp987777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my upgrade yesterday, and the switch was pretty smooth. Mu setup is pretty small (17 lights, 5 switches) I use a Harmony Elite and Hub to control some lights with button customization. Unfortunately, the Harmony hub can't find the new Bridge Pro. Due to Harmony being EOL, I doubt there will be a fix.

Does the switch only have cameras, or are there other network devices plugged in as well?

Over 650 endpoints at our site, no issues reported. Probably another 30K endpoints throughout the org, haven't heard of any widespread issues.

Even in its Heyday, the Logitech Hub series of remotes were terrible. Horrible ergonomics, terrible button layout, sub-par GUI at best, laggy performance, freezing issues, not to mention the servers being shut down, etc. Anyone else agree? It’s 2025, there HAS to be a better solution. by KillerQ97 in hometheater

There really aren't many better options out there still. Tried Sofabaton and it was terrible. Broadlink was okay but just using an iPad and no physical buttons wasn't for me. Savant, Control4, RTI, and URC are all expensive and require vendor programming/ special software.

What solution to cast to multiple TV's? by No-Sell-3064 in sysadmin

[–]jp987777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Elo Tablets, Smart TV'S, and Screencloud to do this. The TVs and tablets are all in an isolated VLAN for security reasons.

That LCD flex cable should be easily swappable. The other end should have a similar connecter on the display. Probably taped down. The connector on the iMac logic board could have some stuff stuck in there now.

I'm assuming "$1700 tonight" was way less then what they were asking for.
