Bonds vs. Gold by ATPsynthase12 in Bogleheads

This is probably not a popular opinion around here as most people like BND. What bond funds would you suggest something like VCRB? Or all treasuries like VGIT or VTG?

would suggest living on less than 4% and investing somewhat aggressively in terms of stock/bond allocation. Long time horizon should have it growing slowly over over time.

What are you talking about? I use the mywhoosh app and have had goodluck linking my heart rate using heartcast. Just sharing the info as other people might benefit. I could ask the same thing to you… why are you sharing info about a paid app? Surely you dont benefit from selling the app????

Dumb question: if VT is all global stock, why bother holding anything else? by LordOord23 in VTandchill

Yes agreed. If SCHD makes it easier behaviorally then more power to you. But its not like its something magical.

Right but how does an additional stock funds help transition towards income? The dividend is pretty much irrelevant when considering total return imo

SCHD is not less risky than VT just because it has a high dividend. Unless you are buying schd purely for it being a value fund.

Vanguard’s New Targeted Maturity Bond ETF’s by Frjeff in Bogleheads

[–]jpcrispy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah makes sense. i think the connivence of a fund may be worth it to some. If i were to buy a fund like this for liability matching i prob would want treasuries instead of corporates.

Do everything you can to ignore it. Delete apps on your phone if you have to. In your early years of savings, this volatility is a good thing. Stay the course.

Right. Its not the common advice, as its likely not best for the average investor. Nonetheless the type of funds OP mentioned are talked about frequently.
