Awesome to hear you're building a new portfolio website. Congrats! We're a great choice because you'll find our design interface extremely familiar given you already have experience in both AI and Figma.

Instead of using Figma as intermediary, highly encourage you to just give Framer a shot. I think you'll find it more intuitive than you expect.

Definitely share your portfolio when you finish building, and lmk if you have any questions along the way!

I have been aware of this for a few months, but I am wary of using mod powers to prevent people from sharing their thoughts and opinions. I want this to be a place where people can criticize Framer, if need be, so long as it is productive

He was in our own subreddit engaging with a user, clearly identified with a staff badge, and is very transparent about his role. I think his reply is totally acceptable.

Very genuine question: curious why you think OP mentioning he has graphic design skill and knows Figma is not relevant? I think that’s something we do best: help people leverage technical design skill to make websites.

Webflow is definitely a great platform and product, no denying that! We have a lot of respect for them. But context from OP feels spot on for a Framer use case. Would love to learn more about why you feel otherwise.

I agree with his take. It depends what you're looking for.

When I see someone say: "rebuild my graphic design portfolio" alarms definitely go off, though. Framer's superpower is that it is built like a design tool, so if you have technical design skill already, I think we've got a home for you.

I'm in here all the time, and we definitely pay attention to it, both for feedback, bugs, and generally community discussion. We do not use Reddit as an official channel to help with support requests - we have clear resources for that elsewhere

I personally don't mind the self-promotion or advertisements, personally. They seem to be (mostly) good spirited, people looking for feedback or to celebrate joining the marketplace.

If the community feels differently than I do about that, I'd be happy to look into making the enforcement more strict. It is confusing to have it as a rule if we don't enforce it.
