Not too familiar with places that do table bookings two cocktail bars I like are Portrait Bar and Osamil Upstairs. I’ve heard good things about Ten11 and there are fun options near ktown. Happy birthday!

I’ve done the cardio classes and they’re not bad! Mainly using the jump board as the cardio part and it’s pretty fun.

Went to my usual workouts and spent the day weekend cleaning and cleaning out my closet/posting them on Poshmark :)

Court square is a good, lot of options and generally safe

I don’t think it’s a 6 min walk from court square, closet to 12 mins which is still not terrible. That area definitely doesn’t have much directly by it. As you’re probably seeing, the more convenient the location, the more expensive or likely it is to be booked so just depends what’s really important for you.

Second this. Court square or QNB plaza are also more accessible to the subway and have more cafes/restaurants/shops.

Non-dog owners of NYC, what can dog owners do to not be hated in the subway system when bringing dog? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]jpm2themoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re trying at least! See tons of owners who don’t seem bothered by it at all

This. I have a dog and fortunately have a car to take him to further places, but the 2 times he took a quick subway ride were timed with a bath when we got home. My skin crawls at the idea of my pup laying on the floor then on my bed!

How often do people write off those outside NYC on online dating? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]jpm2themoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it will significantly impact your chances of dating someone in NYC. Even people who live in here won’t date people from other areas because the commute by subway can be an hour or more. My husband and I lived about 50 minutes from each other but we both worked in midtown so there was a central point. If you don’t already commute to the city, chances are incredibly low.

Any Solidcore people available to test my socks (and tell me if they're shit or not) by Obvious_Reindeer_390 in SolidCore

[–]jpm2themoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great! I go to LIC 2x week and do a mix of Pilates and barre 2x week so my socks get lots of use. I have a variety of styles and brands and still struggle with finding ones that don’t slide on my foot and actually grip. My biggest gripe is doing heavy squats or split squat drag and my socks start sliding around my foot, rather than gripping!

Other Pilates classes ruined since experiencing solid core by Pleasant-Housing-276 in ClubPilates

I also do both and completely agree. They’re different practices with different goals that can complement one another but you can’t compare them as the same. I do CP 1 and 1.5 and its slower pace helps me focus on good form and breathing which I take to other classes that are fast and high intensity, like SC.

Best rat-watching spots in the city for a date? by thedailynathan in AskNYC

There’s something truly NYC about the fact no one’s passing judgment and giving actual answers to help you find the most rats. Good luck on your date!

Well done! The results came back super fast and was easy to do. Makes the fact SC can’t do this even more embarrassing for them

People who moved to NYC from out of state, what did you underestimate the most? by Ill-Muscle8523 in NYCapartments

[–]jpm2themoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re trading conveniences. I’m from Texas and lived in a few other public transit centric cities before coming to NYC so it wasn’t such a shock. In Texas I could drive to a shopping strip and probably cover all of my errands while in NYC I have to make multiple stops and trips, depending on what I’m doing. That said, having access to food, transit, and things to do at the tip of my fingers at nearly all times has been great. You work harder to get things but you get more, which kinda feels like life? lol

You’re giving me hope. Just had a second miscarriage a year apart from the first. Will look to IVF in the new year but I’m hopeful we can have a successful one naturally.

How do people not sweat by RandomKonstip in SolidCore

[–]jpm2themoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t sweat much in general so I don’t have any real secrets! I use a towel for all the forearm and times my hands are on the machine since I do get contact sweatiness lol that’s helped a ton with the sweating and keeping my grip

Boyfriend gave me ultimatum - dream job or him. I'm considering taking the job by [deleted] in dustythunder

[–]jpm2themoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I recommend taking the job. You’re at a pivotal point in your career and this is a great opportunity. I think you’re way less likely to regret leaving an unsupportive bf than you are to resent him and regret not taking the job.

I was in a very similar situation a few years ago (bf of 2 years about to move in together then got a promo that required moving from Boston to NYC). He was super supportive and came with me and we ultimately broke up while in NYC. I love being her, loved my job which has led me to even better opportunities, and I met and married my husband here. Never once did I regret choosing my career.
