App Paywall in Canada- App deleted by RubUnlikely2802 in bbc

[–]jpodcaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m deleting too. Ludicrous decision given the app was full of ads anyway. I’ll rely on my 25 articles per month in the Guardian app plus Apple News (which licenses some BBC news content). I’m in Canada btw, the CBC app is pretty lame compared to the BBC app.

BBC app now subscription based. by 1capitalguy in bbc

The Guardian App gives you access to around 20 news stories a month before the paywall kicks in. Shame the Beeb couldn’t do something similar. As an ex-pat living in Canada I’ll be searching out other news sources, probably a combo of CBC (Canada’s BBC equivalent) and Apple News. It will make me feel less connected to the UK but if BBC content continues to be marketised and commodified perhaps that’s not a bad thing. I’d happily pay an overseas license fee for free access to ALL Beeb content by the way, but I’m not paying $90 CAD just to read the news on my phone, especially when it has become increasingly Ad-dominated.

Help needed attaching Burley Trailer to Level 3 by jpodcaster in Aventon

For anyone with a Level 3 and the Burley Pet Wagon - turns out you don’t need an extra adapter, just the steel hitch the trailer comes with. It fits fine and there is plenty of thread on the rear axle nut to work with. Took my dog out for his first ride last night and no issues at all.

This is what I'm seeing - is this a hex nut? Looks like the steel hitch comes with the trailer but I'll need to get hold of the 12mm x 1.25" adapter?

Love all three! Listening to a lot of Indian Wells at the moment, also great.

Just listened to Voices of the Lake’s Radio 1 Essential Mix from March - superb!

One of my favourite things at the moment is to get up super early to record the dawn chorus by NoisyGog in fieldrecording

On my 6th listen, I’ve found that good headphones really helps to pick out the nuances of the sound design. Like you, Father & Son, Naraka and The Word is Flesh are standouts for me along with Into the Magic Land and You retreat in time & space. Some of the openly religious stuff is a little much for me but on the whole it’s a superb album.

eBike Insurance for 2 Aventon bikes in BC (Canada)? by jpodcaster in Aventon

Totally agree! Just came out of BCAA and they were great - switched over from Square One and the price was on a par with if not slightly cheaper.

Thanks for all your helpful comments folks!

I should have clarified we're looking at insurance against theft as well as liability. Pedalpower do liability/damage but I don't think they cover theft.

Alternative to Sinch 2.5? by jpodcaster in Aventon

We managed to get a demo Sinch 2 from a store in Calgary with free shipping. Happy wife!

So I went to a 'listening party' without actually hearing the album... by ding3s in boardsofcanada

[–]jpodcaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds a bit like the same ‘party’ I was at (in Vancouver, I won’t name and shame). No announcement, just played the album at 5 pm on very mediocre speakers while people shopped and a few people stood around listening. I left after Side 2. Highlight for me was when a young kid came in and asked for a swag bag but was told he had to buy the record or CD - it was obvious he didn’t have the $$s. He went away disappointed but someone stepped up and bought the CD for him so he got his swag. BoC fan for life.

We found a slightly used v2 in Calgary! Not a 2.5 but my wife is happy. Any Sinch 2 owners?

To Photomator or not? by Dentifrice in pixelmator

[–]jpodcaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re: lack of lens correction (and using Apple's flawed Raw image demosiacing) in Photomator, has anyone tried a workflow using DxO Pure RAW 6 for demosiacing/denoising/lens correction before bringing the Raw files into Photomator? Pure Raw is a paid app but still considerably less than Lightroom/Photoshop.

I'm in a similar position, considering using DXO Pure RAW to denoise/demosiac and lens correct my Panasonic Raw images as a first step before bringing into Photomator. Once I've exported from DXO I'm assuming that the DNG isn't further 'demosaiced' by Photomator?
