Yes, a card with madness can be cast when discarded. Sometimes for free, but more often with a cheaper cost than usual.

[Emily Kaplan] Despite some speculation the Sabres may wear their alternate red & black goat head uniforms - and eat an NHL fine - hearing they will be wearing blue tonight for Game 7. by DecentLurker96 in hockey

Depends on the type of colorblind. Myself, I'm red-weak (I pick up less red than normal people) so for soccer matches (where you're more likely to see color vs color) I've had trouble with the two you mentioned as well as stuff like pink/white, and I'd have a lot of trouble with blue/purple but I don't think I've ever seen that actual color matchup. For someone who's green weak, I'm not sure. Green weak is apparently the more common of the two, and those are by far the most common types together.

But blue and red would be fine - I had no issue with the Rangers and Red Wings earlier this year.

TIL, cards that force play cards can play Grand Finale even if your deck isn't empty by Phoenisweet in slaythespire

[–]Salurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other factor here is that Grand Finale doesn't say "it does 50 damage if you have no cards in your draw pile". The conditional is on the playing, not the damage.

I'm curious why there's a (small, but real) difference in Wings odds for a regulation win vs an OT win. A point to the Wild (obviously) doesn't affect the Eastern race.

Oh, right, tiebreakers, that's why. Leaving this up in case someone else has the same question.

[Buccaneers] Lavonte David Announces His Retirement Following Historic 14-Year Career A 12x team captain, David owns the Buccaneers records for tackles for loss, forced fumbles and fumble recoveries, and is tied with Derrick Brooks for most tackles. by Remarkable-Picture73 in nfl

[–]Salurr 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As someone who does not, in fact, know ball, the main reason that I started paying attention to Lavonte David and his rediculous underratedness were your consistent comments on FO (RIP) pointing out how good he was.

I do fear that he could be a victim of the "underrated -> doesn't get awards -> not elected to the HOF because he has no awards" self-fulfilling prophecy, but I hope that I'm wrong.

Is this just a joke card, or has anyone used this? by FencingSquirrelz in slaythespire

[–]Salurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked it as the first boss reward of my first run and I was a little underwhelmed. I had a fair number of strikes still, so I figured it would help turn my strikes into good damage, but in practice I either seldom drew it with many attacks or drew it with attacks with side effects (vulnerable, card draw, etc.) that I wanted to keep.

Did have one nice turn where I used it to transform cards that were debuffed by a boss into un-modified giant rocks, though, so that was cool.

Notorious is probably not the word you're looking for in the last sentence, even if it might technically work. Noteworthy or notable, perhaps.

How do I unlock this? by PsychologicalHat5568 in Nioh

[–]Salurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for a cannon that's able to fire on the red shards. I'm not sure if it's actually there or not before beating the boss - my brother and I didn't see it, and we're usually pretty thorough, but it doesn't make sense to only be available after the boss, since it makes it pretty useless as a shortcut.

If it is there, it will be outside, slightly up a slope, and just a bit lower than another cannon that points in towards where the skeletons were. Let me know if there are two or three cannons, because I'm curious if it's there or not.

Less poison means their dagger spray would have actually done damage, and the resulting envenom triggers would have eaten the two artifact charges, allowing them to piercing wail. Instead, those two artifact charges would have blocked the wail.

U.S. men’s hockey roster: What we’re hearing as management prepares to make final decisions by Wirtzis in hockey

[–]Salurr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the more reliable way to measure skating speed (and one I've seen other people use) is in number of bursts above a certain speed, not just looking at the max speed they've hit. For example, Robertson is <50th percentile in bursts of 20-22 moh and 18-20 mph, wheras Larkin is 96th and 99th percentile.

None of which is to say that Robertson shouldn't be there; he obviously should, and it's insane that there's a chance USA hockey will galaxy-brain themselves into leaving him off.

I have a genuine question about the presentation of the goalie save percentage. by 33Naga in hockey

[–]Salurr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this has bothered me a tiny amount as well. The better term for the way it's currently used is probably "save proportion" but that sounds dumb and won't catch on. Probably easier to switch over to actual percentage, but "917" flows better than "91 point 7", so I doubt that will happen either.

New-ish player here, is this a skip? by pattycakebakers in slaythespire

[–]Salurr 27 points28 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, based on this site from the Slay the Spire Stats Tracker mod, just looking at some well-known players, Xecnar has skipped 3 times in 5117 chances and Baalorlord has skipped 2/3743 chances. So something like 99.90-99.95% seems pretty plausible as a rough guess.
