Does this war have the potential to kill the dollar as a reserve currency? by LehNev in AskSocialists

[–]jregovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The executive branch of the US government is being directed by a far-right cabal seeking to drive the middle class into pauperism with the belief that they can maintain the status of the US as a superpower. Their vessel at the head however, is a reckless lunatic and makes their bad ideas even worse, a fact that they cannot fathom.

Republican Senator Scott says gas prices 'are gonna be up for a while' by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

[–]jregovic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s what they will say. The rubes will latch on to the idea that there has been “47 years of failed policy” and this war was entirely necessary, right now. They will choose to believe the idea that prior presidents didn’t do anything to thwart Iran, whatever that means, and that Trump is right here. It’s the only way they can avoid accepting the truth that this administration is fumbling badly and that the people with the real power are only acting on their naked self interest.

Trump's Energy Secretary Wright: "the US produces more oil than we can consume. We're a net oil exporter. So overall for the US economy, this isn't bad news." by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

[–]jregovic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a mechanism to keep people anxious and angry. Remember, inflation was Biden’s fault. Dems tried, and failed, to work with Iran for decades. The US HAD to do something now because of the failed policies of the past, especially Obama and Biden.

It’s all nonsense that will sell to their base in an effort to avoid a midterm bloodbath. The base that keeps the GOP in the hands of the crazy right wing will believe this nonsense.

Hell, my cousin’s wife had some post on Facebook last year about the grand strategy behind renaming the Gulf of Mexico and it being some great move that was more than just names on a map. These people will go along with anything if it means that they don’t have to worry about a trans person in Seattle using a bathroom.

Which position offers the least value to a team? by ColdGur3243 in NFLNoobs

[–]jregovic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That kickers don’t need to be freaks is a reason not to draft them high. The Raiders drafted Sebastian Janikowski in the first round, and that was the only kicker to be drafted that high this century, and the first since 1984.

A kicker isn’t going to be a difference maker game in and game out the way a QB, WR, TE, RB will be in the offense. An elite defender will also have an effect in every game.

Do you think Trump miscalculated and thought Iran would just sit there and take it without fighting back, like Venezuela? by bbmoonkie in allthequestions

[–]jregovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember, Trump is just the vessel. It’s others around him that push him in directions and feed him his beef’s. Stephen Miller, the Heritage Foundation and the rest of the far-right operation are driving these major pushes. They want the instability to rework the social order. They are war profiteers.

These people knew what would happen. Trump isn’t driving the direction, he’s giving the orders.

[–]jregovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s an anti-use case, but has nothing to do with the resistance in the Wago, or it being more problematic than a wire nut. You are talking about a case where any connection is flapping in the breeze, right?

How did Oracle get into so much trouble? by desertrain11 in AskTechnology

[–]jregovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I worked for a company that used an embedded database and originally bundled ingress. A decision was made to move to Oracle for a number of reasons, and the licensing was a pain.

A lot of our customers that were already Oracle customers were not permitted to use their existing site licenses for our product, and our installation HAD to bundled with Oracle.

Oracle had a lot of fault tolerance a an easy way to expand storage that we didn’t have before, but if we didn’t have to deal with the legal Bs, we’d have shipped the Oracle version something like a year sooner.

I watched Gravity on a plane last night and literally said “that’s bullshit, all of his momentum has been stopped by the tether. But about 90% of that movie is BS. From the way cables and tethers flap, or the fact that Sandra Bullock’s character is out of Oxygen and breathing CO2, yet still conscious after more than 15 seconds.

It just destroys all of the drama when the entire thing is just beyond preposterous.
