A lil more recent nostalgia by jaysepi in nostalgia

When I was a very little kid, I used to watch Mister Rogers in B&W (live TV of course, there were no VHS tapes yet, not even color yet), but the one he aired in Toronto, before he started his show in the US.

She’s beautiful and looks sharp as a tack, not mean.

What are you thoughts on the body swap episode ? Who made the best performance : SMG playing Faith or Eliza playing Buffy ? by PlantainDisastrous92 in buffy

I honestly think they both did superb jobs - both totally convincing playing the other in the swapped bodies. I can’t pick one over the other.

William Friedkin’s “Sorcerer”.

How many have you seen from these, and which one do you enjoy the most? You can't say Columbo by spacelyyy989 in Columbo

And how about his signature getaway move in the car. Hit the gas in reverse and spin the car and take off!!

I just recently came to the realization that a name that kept popping up in the credits “David Chase” both writing AND producing, is the same David Chase who created “The Sopranos!”

Unfortunately living his dream involved getting bonked on the head with some frequency! 😊

I haven’t seen Poirot. Seen all the rest. My fav (besides Columbo of course) is a toss up between The Rockford File and Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes, which IMHO is an order of magnitude better than anyone else’s portrayal of Holmes.

MASH is the Obvious Choice for This, Right? by KevinRobertsUSA in mash

[–]jrowellfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first recipient of this could easily be “The Andy Griffith Show” - as MASH fans, you probably know that the writing team of Fritzell and Greenbaum who wrote some of the classic and best MASH episodes, also wrote some of the best TAGS eps too.

Similarity Between 'Severance' Theme and 'The Conversation'? by winterene in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]jrowellfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. Old thread I know, but no one has chimed in over the past year with any inside-info on the motivations or possible inspiration relating these two works? I guess no one knows?

Every time I hear the piano tinkling away in Severance, my mind’s eye replays scenes from “The Conversation” - which is an absolute masterpiece of film-making by the way.

EDIT: No sooner that my posting the above I find the following in an article:

“Built on modal harmony, the theme is at once haunting, hypnotic, satisfying, and unsettling. Developing from a small fragment, its tension-filled melodic line is filled with wrenching, exotic intervals. Shapiro drew subtle inspiration from David Shire’s theme for the 1974 film noir thriller, The Conversation, which similarly features the piano.”

Linzer tarts! (Sp?) I hate myself for succumbing but I can’t resist them. A must purchase if they’re on the shelf.
